Branch of a YMCA chain featuring an indoor pool and a gym, along with clean facilities. Friendly staff.
While specific, publicly listed pool temperatures for the Coppell Family YMCA's pools are not readily available, YMCA indoor lap pools typically maintain temperatures in the range of 80-84°F (26.7-28.9°C). Warmer instructional or family pools, often featured in such facilities, may be kept at approximately 86-88°F (30-31.1°C).
What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for the YMCA show a mixed experience. While some members praise the cleanliness of the facility (specifically mentioning janitor Carlos), the helpfulness of some front desk staff, the availability of equipment, and the excellent, well-coached swim team program, there are significant concerns. Multiple members express disappointment and frustration over recent changes, including the conversion of exercise rooms, relocation of classes to noisy areas, and consistently smelly and moldy locker rooms, which are often closed. Customer service issues are also prevalent, with complaints about inconsistent information regarding policies (e.g., resubscription over the phone), rude or suspicious staff interactions towards nationwide members, and difficulty in reaching supervisors. These issues point to perceived poor staff training, communication breakdowns, and a decline in overall member experience, leading some to consider canceling their memberships.

Disappointed and Frustrated with Recent Changes I joined the YMCA specifically for a weekly dance class that was held in a proper exercise room. Unfortunately, that room has now been converted into manager offices, and the class has been moved to the gymnasium—where half the court is still used for basketball during our session. It’s noisy, distracting, and simply not the environment we signed up for. To make matters worse, several popular classes have been cancelled or relocated, and the locker rooms are consistently smelly and moldy, which raises serious concerns about cleanliness and maintenance. Many of us are considering canceling our memberships. We've voiced our concerns, but the management seems indifferent. It’s incredibly disappointing to see a community-focused organization disregard the needs of its members like this. I hope the YMCA reconsiders these decisions and starts prioritizing member experience again.
I have been a member for many years, my children grew up coming here. The janitor Carlos keeps the facility sparkling clean besides being courteous. Front desk staff are very helpful and the gym has all the equipment needed and more. Plenty of programs and classes for all ages. Very safe and family oriented as any YMCA should be!
I typically consider the YMCA a safe and consistent place to reset, especially during difficult seasons. But today’s experience at this location, which was my first time visiting this branch, was disappointing and unprofessional. When I stopped in to use the facility, I clearly stated that I have a nationwide membership. That information was either ignored or dismissed. One staff member assisting another individual asked me a follow-up question, and when I repeated that I was nationwide, he then asked me my name—not to assist, but in a tone that implied I was being dishonest or trying to sneak in. Staff, including those assisting members with special needs, should be trained on how to treat all guests with dignity, clarity, and kindness. There’s a way to verify information without suspicion or condescension. Thank goodness I didn’t have to stay, since the women’s locker room was closed for cleaning in the middle of the day (because of course it was 🙃). The tone, the energy, and the interaction fell short of what the YMCA claims to stand for.
My son had a wonderful experience with the Swim Team at Coppell Family YMCA! The coaches were truly dedicated and supportive, helping each swimmer improve their technique and build confidence in the water. The team atmosphere was inclusive and motivating, fostering a strong sense of community and teamwork. Additionally, the facilities were well-maintained, providing a great environment for training and competitions. Overall, it was an enriching experience that combined fitness, fun, and friendship.
Resubscribing today, called yesterday. The gentleman I talked to said I could do it over the phone. I wanted it to start today so he said just call in tomorrow. Then when I called in today Josey (young lady) or someone at front desk said I can’t do it over the phone and I had to come in. When I came in an older lady said the staff were told different things. So, I asked what is the actual policy? They said they can do it over the phone and I asked why didn’t they call me and let me know? They said they didn’t have caller id. Called the main line and my number was shown. I also asked for a supervisor both front ladies said supervisor was not available. Later a lady named Kimberly who I think was the manager stopped by. Overall a bad experience. Training is bad, communication is bad, and the ability to not call a supervisor is also bad.
