Many visitors, especially families, highly praise it as a 'greatest park ever' and a 'super nice and clean family pool,' highlighting the enjoyment derived from the shallow end, diving board, and amenities like lounge chairs. It's often described as an 'awesome' and 'enjoyable' community spot, though it can get crowded. However, significant negative experiences were reported concerning staff conduct and safety. One long-time resident detailed an experience of discrimination and harassment by the director. Another review recounted a serious incident where lifeguards allegedly failed to assist a struggling swimmer, with a civilian needing to intervene, leading to strong feelings of unsafety and criticism regarding the lack of management presence on a busy day. Community pool was awesome today. Only open one more day of this summer season.š So the staff and water will be missed as fall fast approaches. Farewell summer 2025.
My family have been residents of pleasant ridge for over 70 years, but we are being discriminated against because we don't fit the directors description of a "typical" family from this area...whatever that means. I was asked over and over again how many people live at my home and asked for my drivers license repeatedly. It's not fun to be harassed and discriminated against, especially publicly in your own community. I feel so ashamed to be part of this community after my experiences at the Pleasant Ridge "community" pool.
We visit from Florida most summers. This year we were able to go and take my little kids. When we left my for year old looked at me and said āthis was the greatest park everā. She played in the shallow end of the pool with sheer joy! They opened the diving board in the deep end and everyone enjoyed that . It can get crowded in regards to seat space, but itās nice they even offer lounge chairs and tables. My public pool never did! Great community, great place to visit, storybook place to grow up.
Went to the Pleasant Ridge pool on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. It was an enjoyable day, except for one very unfortunate incident. While we were sitting in our deck chairs we were observing a lady who obviously couldnāt swim well. We watched her go from the shallow end, trying to make her way toward the deep end. When she reached the 12 foot cord she was extremely tired and you could see quite agitated. She was right under the lifeguards chair in the second swim lane. She was getting very agitated and struggling to keep from going under. another lady quickly came up grabbed onto her while she was still struggling trying to get her to shallower water. All this time the lifeguard in the chair was watching at one point the lady trying to help looked up at her and said I thought you would come in and help me, all that got from her was to get down off the chair and watch from the cement. Itās hard to believe that highly trained lifeguards Would freeze like this. Two out of three of them saw the whole thing.⦠and did nothing... to say I feel less safe would be an understatement, and to top it off when we went to say something to a manager on a Sunday afternoon when itās busy⦠There was no manager.
