The Waterford Pool & Fitness Center, located in Waterford Township, MI, is a comprehensive recreational facility offering a variety of amenities for the community. It features a large indoor aquatic center with multiple pools, a well-equipped fitness center with cardio and weight training areas, and a diverse schedule of group exercise classes. The center also provides programs such as swim lessons, water aerobics, and youth activities, serving as a popular hub for health, wellness, and recreation.
The facility typically features at least two distinct pools: a lap pool, generally maintained at a cooler temperature suitable for swimming laps (often around 80-82°F or 27-28°C), and a warm water or leisure pool, which is kept significantly warmer for therapy, lessons, and recreational use, frequently in the 88-90°F (31-32°C) range.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The facility is generally recommended for its value, offering daily passes ($7-$10) and memberships that include access to a gym, pool, and track, with fitness classes also available. Patrons frequently praise the cleanliness of the pool and locker rooms, noting amenities like individual showers, varied locker sizes, and a bathing suit dryer. The pool itself offers diverse options, including a shallower heated section with a ramp and a deeper, multi-lane area. However, there are notable drawbacks, including inconvenient operating hours, particularly the pool's limited availability during weekends and a 12-3 PM closure on weekdays, as well as periodic multi-day closures for cleaning. The shared space with school students, teams, and classes raises concerns about availability and potential crowding. Serious complaints have also been made regarding unprofessional staff behavior, with one user recounting an incident where an instructor yelled at children during an 'open swim' session, compounded by unhelpful lifeguards. Additionally, a safety concern was raised about potential high chlorine levels causing skin rashes after swimming. While the gym is equipped, it is described as small.

Very nice and clean pool and locker room. The showers are individual and have curtains. They have all sorts of classes as well as plenty of open swim times. The locker room even has a bathing suit squeezer!
Just started going here recently, It seems like a pretty good deal to me. Even though I will give my honest opinion about the ups and downs, I still fully recommend this place and think it's worth checking out,it just may not be everyone's best choice, to their liking, or a good fit for their schedule/needs. THE PROS: You can pay between $7 or $10 for a daily pass which includes getting to use the pool, track, and gym for the day the pass is active. I'm considering getting a membership soon as well (which adds on the ability to take fitness classes as well, which you can read more about on the website). It may seem pricey for the memberships, but it may be a relatively good deal compared to alot of gyms, since there's a lot more then just a gym. The gym is small but has a lot of different machines and equipment, plus lockers. It may also be a good investment if you plan to go often. The pool locker room is clean, has different sized lockers, decent showers, and even has a machine that dries your clothes quite a lot so you don't have to carry around dripping clothes. They also have equipment/items you can use for the pool. The pool has 2 sides, a shallower heated pool( maybe 3-5 ft in depth) that even has a ramp if you can't use the stairs. The other side is one with about 10 different lines to swim divided by "ropes". This one can be as shallow as 3 or 4 feet on one side stretching to 8 feet. The other side of this pool goes all the way to 14 feet I think. This one isn't headed but I still enjoy them both. I have yet to see the track so I can't say anything about that. They also have vending machines outside. Now the CONS: My only downsides are the hours and availability when it comes to the pool. While I'm sure they have their reasons, it's a bit difficult to find a good time to go considering I can't get up there between 5/7am ish and 3pm before they close on the weekends. So I can't always go when I need to if I choose to on a sat/sun. And as for the weekdays, it's the same except they're closed from 12pm-3pm which is a bit strange and inconvenient. But they open back up then from 3pm-8pm. Which is when I usually have to go, however the 5 hour window doesn't provide a lot of time for me for everything I need to do there. It's part of what's holding me off from a membership or going more often, along with the fact that they aren't open sometimes for multiple days-a week for cleaning and such, which cuts a week out of my membership time. And, since it's at a school, you'd have to share the space with students, clubs, teams, classes, etc. which is a concern since I don't know what that means for how much space and time I'd have there, if I come all the way up and spend money to be there and may not even really have the space/time. I wish I knew more about what it would look like for time/availability during the school year, but I'll either still go all year round, or limit my usage to summer/fall. I know this was a lot but I hope it was able to provide a lot of in depth information for new patrons.
My kids went swimming there earlier this week and after their swim later on that night, they had rashes that kinda look like hives on their skin on their face and arms, and it still hasn’t gone away just yet upon looking it up it could be chlorine levels being too high and be Chlorine we’ve been to this pool before and nothing has ever happened like this and I did call the pool and fitness center to let them know. Hopefully, they can check the chlorine levels before school starts.
Went their with my 5 year old twins today. Never going back. It was opened swim, which I took to mean we could use the pool. When we got there, there was a swim class on one end of the pool. I took my twins to the other side of the pool. We were swimming in the corner when the teacher had her class swim to our side. My twins were using some pool noodles. The teacher starts yelling at my twins about using "her" pool noodles, of which there were probably 50 of, and which are always at the pool, they aren't "hers" they are the property of the pool. Then she starts telling us we are in her way. The lifeguard comes over and tells me to take my 5 year old twins to the 15 foot deep Olympic sized pool, which also happens to be very cold. Then one of the parents of the students starts in on me saying that we are in his kids way. I told the instructor she is being unprofessional and then she has a meltdown and starts screaming at me and my son. I calmy explained to the lifeguard that I paid 20 bucks for the open swim, that the swim class came to OUR side of the pool, and that I'm not taking my 5 year olds into a 15 foot deep pool. Then another lifeguard yelled at my kids for running everytime they stepped out of the pool, even though they were NOT running. Very bad experience here. That swim instructor is unprofessional and ignorant and the lifeguards aren't doing their jobs. If it's an OPEN swim, which I paid for, then we should be able to use the pool, or at leat the 8x8 area that we were swimming in until the crazy teacher had her class swim into us.
Large pool and event pool. Lockerrooms are available. Gym upstairs isn't huge. It's located inside Waterford Mott high school closer to the football and baseball fields.
