The Prisma Health Family YMCA maintains its program pools, used for lap swimming and swim lessons, at approximately 80-82°F (26.7-27.8°C). For water exercise and therapy, its warm water therapy pools are typically kept warmer, ranging from 88-90°F (31.1-32.2°C).
What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for this YMCA location present a mixed bag of experiences. Several members expressed significant disappointment with the Childwatch service, citing rigid policies that separate siblings against their wishes and concerns over inappropriate screen time for infants. The pool area also received negative feedback regarding an assistant director described as dictatorial, leading to a perceived toxic environment. Broader complaints touched on a general decline in the workout atmosphere, including inconsiderate member behavior (loud socializing, phone use), overcrowding, and a lack of staff intervention to maintain order or respond to member suggestions. Conversely, positive feedback highlighted an outstanding personal trainer, Estephanie Burbano, who helped a member achieve substantial weight loss and improved mobility. Other positive comments praised the facility's better equipment, especially the 'Beast Mode' room for functional training, and generally described the staff as helpful and friendly, with a good variety of classes available.

We are coming from Lauren’s because they have much better equipment . They are busy but we scheduled our day for the late morning which works well for us. Beast Mode room is great if your into functional training . Staff was very helpful
I’m really disappointed with the YMCA Childwatch at this location. The whole point of this service is to help busy parents like me get a workout in, but their rigid policies completely undermine that goal. I booked spots for my 6- and 2-year-old daughters on a Saturday morning, knowing they were supposed to be in separate areas due to their ages. However, my kids were very upset about being separated, so I kindly spoke with the manager and asked if they could stay together, especially since the younger kids’ area wasn’t busy at all. The manager was stuck to a strict rule that felt completely out of touch with early childhood education principles. It’s well known that young children are likely to need support when separated from their parents, and in that case, my daughters were ready to support each other while being away from us. What bothered me even more was that the only other time I used this service at this location—when my youngest was just 1 year old—I returned to find her buckled into a chair with a screen directly in front of her, as if they were forcing her to watch it. At the time, she hadn’t been exposed to screens yet, given her young age and the American Academy of Pediatrics’ (AAP) recommendations on avoiding screen entirely for children under 18 months. The Child Watch service is supposed to focus on play and social interaction, not passive screen use. Overall, this Childwatch felt more like a barrier to my workout than a help, and I would not recommend it to other parents who want a supportive, child-friendly environment. Moreover, I believe the center’s policies, including those related to screen and siblings, should be thoughtfully revisited to better support the needs of children and parents.
I use to have a great time working out and swimming. They now have an assistant director named Liam who runs the pool like a dictatorship. He told me his deck his rules. Also made the comment I can go to someone above him but he will run his pool like he wants. I guess the ymca welcomes toxic staff members. They make enough money what does it matter if the loose 1 or 2 people because they want to have people like Liam calling the shots.
This used to be a great place to work out. I have been a member for many years. This place has lost its way. Inconsiderate people talking on their phones through their workouts, others socializing through their workouts, massive crowding during peak hours, staff who are responsible for equipment who never ask members what they would like to see, members allowed to do whatever they like with no intervention by any staff. If you are not interested in a workout, and want someplace to talk while you convince yourself you are working out, this place is for you. Did I mention the crazies that like to vocalize incoherent sounds. OMG.
Just finished 24 sessions with the best Trainer in the world. Estephanie Burbano worked with in my limitations and structure a workout plan that result in a 60 pound loss, I have more flexible and mobility then when I first walk into the YMCA. The staff is helpful and friendly as well. There are so many classes that are available of all skill and age levels. I highly recommend Prizma Health Family YMCA and trainer Estephanie.
