What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews present a strong dichotomy regarding Magnolia Point. While the clubhouse, pub, and food consistently receive high praise for being great, nice, and even romantic, the golf course itself is overwhelmingly criticized for its severe decline and poor condition. Multiple reviewers, including long-time patrons, express disappointment, noting it has deteriorated from a premier course to one of the worst in the area. Specific complaints include bare and poorly maintained greens, bad fairways, dangerous and broken cart paths, and bunkers lacking sand. Reviewers also highlight a slow pace of play, neglected and disgusting bathrooms, and a noticeable lack of on-course staff and services. There's a perception that investment is being directed towards other amenities like the tennis/pickleball courts rather than the golf course, leading to its current state of disrepair.

After a good round of golf the food at the club was great. Though it was only a temporary menu item, the mussels were pleasantly chewy, musky from the garlic, and tangy from the tequila and lime. The downstairs room resembles a sort of cavern, dimly lit with a hidden cave vibe, which is kind of romantic and mysterious. I wish I lived closer to Magnolia Point, it's one of my favorite courses in the Jacksonville area, easygoing with a nice clubhouse.
Nice clubhouse and good food. Cart path was in really bad shape in a lot of areas or completely missing (torn up concrete transitioning to dirt path). Greens not in good shape but there had been a ton of rain. Price wasn't bad and it's worth playing for sure...expected a little bit more for the area. Several kids from clubhouse allowed to play on 18th fairway while we were trying to tee off which was crazy (could have easily hit one of them)...
Lived at MP for 30 years. It was the premier golf course in Clay County at one time. Now it is the worst. Every green has several bare spots, the fairways are in bad shape, and the tee boxes need a lot of work. The bathrooms are disgusting with no lights, a hole in one of the doors, doors don’t close properly, no soap, cold water, no paper towels and sadly , it was like that when I moved in 2020 so clearly, nothing has been done to them. The cart paths are an accident waiting to happen. It is sad to see the decline of MP now. The tennis/ pickle ball courts look good, obviously, that is where the money is going because it definitely is not being put into the golf course. The Pub is great, and the food is good so at least you have that going for you.
Course is in beautiful condition, but you'll spend more time looking at it than playing. We waited longer at each hole to tee off than it took us to play it. Four groups deep at each hole is a little much...
Have been coming to Magnolia since the early 90"s and we love the community. However, it's incredible how much the golf course has declined. It used to be such a beautiful course and very well maintained but now it's one of the worst in the area. Over the past two weeks we've golfed at Fleming Island, Eagle Harbor, WGV, Cimarrone, and a couple of others. MP is, by far unfortunately, in the worst shape of all. It's become more and more obvious that it's not maintained and no money is being put into the course. The cart path is literally broken, chipped, and downright dangerous throughout the entire 18 holes and it's such a shame. Why are you letting it go like this? A few years ago we started to notice how bad the cart path was becoming, and it has gotten progressively worse to drive along. And the bunkers?Where is the sand in the bunkers?? They were always so nice but now they're horrendous. The greens are not in good shape at all. The other day we were advised there is not even a Pro anymore which is sad, there are no cart boys, and we golfed the other day in 95+ degrees yet no cart girl ever came by. In fact, you have to go into the pro shop to get your own ice for the cooler cart. Thankfully the water coolers are still available on some holes! Why on earth do the owners want such a beautiful course to fall into shambles? It's mind boggling. Is any money being put into the course? We do notice a lot of improvements to the tennis area and the Pub is really cute as is the food, but it's a golf community and yet the golf course is in a state of such disrepair now that it's so sad. For a time there was 27 holes of beautiful golf but no more. Hopefully it will not go the way of the Ravines and OP Country Club.
