We had wonderful time at the Sahara. We stayed in the Mara tower. Clean and comfortable. The fridge was very useful. The only negative on the room is the sliding bathroom door. Our view of the mountains and the Strat was great The property is very nice in a quiet part of the strip. Having monorail access at the property is nice. The staff were very attentive. We will be back
If you want to enjoy a peaceful, relaxing or enjoyable time at the pool, go elsewhere. Sahara is one of a few hotels that allow local residents to enjoy their pools. And to make it worse, on a day of football games the pool was jammed packed at 10am and it felt like a college spring break all over again. Complete trash. No lounge chairs available. There is plenty of security restricting you from bringing in food/drinks, yet no one is managing unused chairs so used towels are occupying all the chairs all day. Only 1 towel per person. Then there is required 18% tip added to your food order that you have to pick up yourself! Why am I paying for tip where there is no service involved? I happily pay 20-25% tip where I receive a good table service. Forced tip for a service that did not exist rubbed me the wrong way. Another gripe I had is there is no microwave or coffee make in the room, forcing you to BUY coffee and every meal, as you cannot take leftovers back to your room to enjoy later. You may get decent rates for a room but you will be ripped off left and right. Will never return to Sahara.
Hadn't been to the Sahara for many years. The prices were very reasonable this week and decided to try it. We were impressed with the decor of the casino and common areas. Nicely updated. Good selection of restaurants, easy free self and valet parking, nice pools, and friendly staff! If you get Jonathan at the front desk (he said he was new to Vgas and the hotel), you'll be treated respectfully and with welcoming and caring service. Nothing sets the mood better than a good check in experience! Thank you Jonathan! Our room, a suite in the Alexandria Tower and was well done in a vintage/edgy style that we liked. The casino was comfortably sized and very modern. This will be our new hotel/casino for future Vegas stays!
It was a terrible experience from the start: 1. The front desk lady appeared to be intoxicated. I asked her several times about the benefits of booking with my American Express Platinum card, and she couldn’t even explain the hotel amenities. 2. My wife was stuck in the elevator for over 45 minutes, and no one noticed. When I went to the front desk, they said they couldn’t help except by calling security. I had to call 911 myself and request the fire department, which arrived 40 minutes later. The elevators have no air conditioning or ventilation, take forever, and are constantly overcrowded. 3. We attended the hotel pool party, and they tried to charge us a cover fee to enter—which makes no sense, considering resort fees are supposed to cover amenities like that. 4. The next day, we went down to the pool, and security told me my son couldn’t run around it—even though I was literally right next to him. When I stay at a hotel, I expect my kids to be able to enjoy the space, not be unnecessarily restricted. Overall, the staff were rude and lacked any sense of hospitality. On a positive note, Jeff’s restaurant was excellent. The staff were friendly, the food was great, and our server Joseph was outstanding—attentive, helpful, and had a great attitude. The pool area itself is nice, though they need more servers. You have to go to the bar to place an order. There are plenty of screens, which is a great touch if you enjoy watching sports. The property has potential, but it’s being held back by poor staffing and weak service culture. There are plenty of food options, and having a Starbucks on-site is a plus. I also tried contacting the manager. The staff kept giving me the runaround until I had to be firm. Eventually, someone told me his name was Roger. When I asked for his last name, he replied, “I’m the only Roger here, and I’m the manager.” I explained everything that had happened, but he wasn’t receptive. He offered to waive the resort fees without even apologizing on behalf of the team or the hotel. I hope this feedback helps the company improve the quality of its staff and overall guest experience.
Check in staff is amazing/kind/welcoming. Room was very clean/spacious. 2nd time staying here and we got a room with mountain view. It was awesome. Plenty of drawer space if you are one who unpacks their luggage. We did not. Room safe is in a drawer as well. We didn't use. Restaurants on property are very good. The Pool was great to hit for a few hours while we were there as well. And the room floors where so quiet. There was no issue sleeping. We love this place and will stay there again next time we are in town.
