The Fullerton Community Center Pool, located at 340 W Commonwealth Ave, Fullerton, CA, is a year-round aquatic facility offering a variety of activities including lap swim, open swim, water aerobics classes, and swim lessons.
The pool at the Fullerton Community Center is heated year-round to a comfortable 80 degrees Fahrenheit (approximately 26.7 degrees Celsius).
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The facility is highly praised for its wonderful aqua fitness classes, amazing and conscientious instructors (including Irene, Rita, and Babbete), clean pool, and excellent staff (lifeguards and office personnel). The pool temperature is generally pleasant, and the overall facility and locker rooms are considered very nice, though some shower heads in the women's locker room could use replacement. However, there are significant criticisms: morning lap swim has been permanently canceled, leaving seniors feeling underserved, and options are perceived as limited to 'fast swim.' One negative experience highlighted an uncomfortable incident with a patron during lap swim, suggesting an environment where minor annoyances can be vocalized. Additionally, the setup of only two lap lanes next to aerobic classes can lead to close proximity and potential splashing issues.

The aqua fitness classes on Tuesday/Thursday/Friday are wonderful. Pool is typically a nice temp. Very nice pool facility. Good locker room/bathroom area. Wonderful life guards and office staff. All of the instructors are amazing Irene, Rita, Babbete and the other lady on Thursday low impact (I’m so sorry I can’t recall her name, will revise if my brain permits it to come) are very conscientious about delivering a full hour of varying challenges that work the entire body and exercise your brain, as well.
The Aqua Aerobics classes were great. FAST swim sponsors them for $6 for a one hour class. The pool is always clean. Bring your own lock for the lockers. I don't shower on the premises, but have been told the shower heads in the women's locker room could use replacement.
I signed up for the 1pm lap swim session for one hour. The pool has two lanes for lapswimmers with the rest dedicated to an aerobic class. There were about three lane lines separating the two sides. Aerboic class swimmers had their back against the lapswim lanes. Watch out for white Karen's! In the last 12 minutes, I lost my lane-splitting partner so I did some IM's. After two sets, this white woman instructed me to swim on the other lap swim lane that also just opened up. I complied. I guess my FLY splashed a few droplets of water to her back. Since I only flip turned FLY/BACK on the opposite side of her, I can't think of anything else. I am not a powerful swimmer so I could not have possibly splashed copious amount of water at her in any of my other strokes. My FLY is also not known for its speed nor power. I try to glide with the water. But listen to this - about maybe two minutes after her instruction, she packed her stuff and left the class before it officially concluded (I assume it is to secure the showers). These are the sort of patrons who use that facility - those quick to vocalize their annoyance over anything however minor - it's truly walking on eggshells with these people.
Morning lap swim has been permanently canceled. It will not be returning after Covid.
No Use for seniors who need the pool. Only fast swim.
