Specific daily or official average pool temperatures for Bauman Community Pool are not widely published online. What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for this pool are mixed, highlighting both positive aspects of the facility and significant concerns regarding staff conduct. Many users appreciate the pool's cleanliness, the presence of numerous lifeguards, and reasonably priced concessions. Available amenities include lap pools, a family pool with water slides (though some were reported closed), and a diving board. Admission is generally described as modest, although one reviewer found it expensive for a short visit. A major recurring concern, however, is the behavior of the staff. Several reviewers describe lifeguards as overly strict or 'militant,' allegedly stifling children's enjoyment through excessive enforcement of minor rules, which some perceived as power trips. One particularly negative experience detailed an exceptionally rude employee, possibly a manager, who prevented a family from entering the facility. Other issues noted include an unpleasant smell in the changing rooms, the closure of some water slides, and a shallow main swimming area.

This pool has a very illogically militant team who completely erase any joy a kid could have swimming. My 5 year old son was being very well behaved but got yelled at for things like dipping his head into the water before walking up the ladder, for touching the wall because only the ladder is to be touched, for walking 1’ in the wrong direction. I saw a lifeguard holler at a gaggle happy well behaved of 3-4 year olds for being within 4’ of a rope, which they were not even touching. The changing rooms smelled so awful my kid was uncomfortable changing in them. $16 for a half hour swim before we were so disheartened by the experience we left. How do you kill a quintessential summer swim day? Team is more interested in some sort of power trip than providing a fun and safe community center.
Nice, clean facility. Lots of lifeguards. Reasonably priced concession stand. Diving board was enjoyed. Two of the three water slides were closed though, which kinda sucked. Also not very deep area to swim for big kids/adults.
I took my 2 children here with me today and not even 30 seconds from us walking inside to pay an employee who I believe may have been the manager immediately comes at me and puts her fingers very close up in my face tells me “nope stop and turn around ! You need to go around the building, I ask her why she does not give any information I let her know do not put your fingers or hands in my face like that she then proceeds to apologize because “she was on the phone” I tell her that is unacceptable to treat customers like that and she walks away. After this I left and took my children elsewhere. Very rude and disrespectful, I plan to put in a complaint on this lady
Great place for family swimming. There are lap pools as well as a family pool, complete with dual water slides. 4 lifeguards on duty to keep people safe, and the admission fee is modest ($4.50 for adults as of writing)
Nice pool. Probably my favorite public pool in the Madison area.
