What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for SwimWest present a mixed experience for customers. Many parents commend the instructors for their kindness, patience, and effectiveness, particularly with babies learning essential water safety skills (like breath control and climbing out) and older children developing competitive swimming abilities. Specific teachers like Mr. Dyke, Miss Berlyn, Miss Megan, Miss Emy, and Ms Katy are highlighted positively. The facility is generally described as nice, with a warm pool and clean locker rooms, and many families report years of positive experiences. However, significant negative feedback arose following an ownership change, which some families found abrupt and difficult for children, compounded by what they perceived as unsupportive management. A major recurring issue centers on poor front desk and administrative services. Customers reported unanswered phone calls, a complicated cancellation process, erroneous re-enrollments after simple schedule changes, persistent billing errors for months after cancellation, and a lack of communication or follow-through on promised refunds, leading to considerable frustration and unexpected charges. One review also mentioned high instructor turnover.

We have absolutely loved our experience at SwimWest over the past year for both our children. We are so lucky to have such kind and patient teachers. We can see the results of their hard work.
We loved swimming here until they changed ownership. It's unfortunate that the transition was abrupt and hard for kids. I took some time to leave a review because I felt like it may have just been our experience. After all, we had over a year of positive experience prior to this. We stuck it out for months before leaving thinking it was just a fluke that our child who once loved swim was struggling. And when we asked management about their perspective on how difficult it was seeming for our entire class. We were told "if you don't make kids do hard or uncomfortable things, they never will. This may not be for your child" My child is a toddler. Swim is supposed to be a fun learning experience. We pulled our child and searched for something new. At our trial we met other parents who had also left Swim West for the same reason. And our first swim lesson at a different facility went well.
My sons have been swimming at SwimWest since they were babies. My oldest has grown so much as a swimmer over the years and is now in one of their highest levels. He plans to swim competitively one day. Mr. Dyke is great with the older swimmers, keeping them engaged and challenging them to be their best. He brings so much experience and knowledge to the SwimWest team. I am so grateful for the staff’s patience and compassion with my 4 year-old, especially Miss Berlyn, Miss Megan, and Miss Emy. We had some struggles last year (due to no fault of the staff), but now he counts down the days until next lesson he is so excited.
We started swim lessons here when my daughter turned 6 months old and we love their baby class! She loves going in the pool each week :) While she loves to splash and kick around, they teach very valuable skills, such as breath control (she can now go under water now for 3-5 seconds), how to climb out of the pool, and to find and grab the wall or their parent. And the teachers are so nice and patient, we love Ms Katy! The pool is nice and warm and the locker room is clean.
We had our two kids enrolled here for about three years. The facility is nice and most of the instructors have been pretty good—albeit, there was quite a bit of turnover on instructors. However, the front desk and administration is quite poor. They frequently would not have people able to take phone calls during business hours leading to many phone calls going unanswered. The biggest problem is that they don’t manage accounts well. Since we joined a private pool for the summer, we had cancelled lessons for one of our kids (the other had already been cancelled) at the end of May, which was too late to cancel for June as they billed for the next month on the 20th of the month prior. That’s fine. Though, it was quite the process to cancel. We tried to cancel in person at the end of a lesson with the desk worker. They told us that they would put in a request to a supervisor to see if we’re able to cancel. What?! They ended up telling us we were unenrolled, but that’s quite a bizarre way to manage accounts. Whatever, we continued through June and planned to be done at the end of that month. One of the weeks during the month of June, we asked to switch the lesson to another time that week, which was a fairly standard request and which they did. Fine. However, what they didn’t tell us is that they then instead re-enrolled him for that time slot going forward. So, to our surprise, we got a tuition charge for the month July on June 20th, which we didn’t notice for a week or two. We called and asked what happened. They admitted that they re-enrolled when we asked to change the lesson time for that one week. The desk person said they would have a supervisor look into fixing it. We waited a week or so. Nothing. We called again and left messages. Eventually, they said they credited our account for that month. We said, “No, we unenrolled, we don’t want a credit, we wanted a refund as it was your mistake.” They said they would make that correction. Okay. We kept checking calling about once a week to no avail. No answer, no returned calls. Fast forward to July 20th while we wait for them to resolve it. We get billed again for the month of August! We noticed it right away as we were waiting to get refunded. We called again and actually got a hold of someone. They apologize and told us a supervisor would look into it as well as the charge on June 20th. On June 31st they refunded just the charge on July 20th but not the one on June 20th. We call again on August 1st, no answer, no return message. We call a few more times to no avail. Then, on August 20th we get some random charge of $25. Ugh. We have no idea what’s going on. I suppose we’ll just have our credit card block all charge from them. Moral of the story, DO NOT GO HERE. This is basically stealing, right?
