What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews for this YMCA present a mixed but insightful picture. On the positive side, many members highly praise the excellent childcare services, specifically mentioning staff like Lulu for their hard work and the positive, helpful nature of the overall gym staff. The facility is described as incredibly well-run by some, and the administration is commended for effectively managing operations amidst community growth. A specific staff member, Kelsey, received strong praise for her exceptional customer service. However, significant negative feedback highlights several areas for improvement. Lap swimmers express considerable frustration over unclear pool etiquette, enforced waiting periods even when lanes are ready, and issues with lane availability and maintenance, with one user from Saint Croix Falls, WI, noting frequent difficulties in actually swimming laps. The front desk staff is criticized for being rude, uninviting towards children, and impatient, which detracts from a sense of community. Furthermore, the facility's condition is a major concern, with complaints about dirtiness, equipment in poor condition, insufficient equipment leading to long wait times, and visible damage like holes in walls.

When the pool opens for lap swim after a class, be sure to be waiting at your lane when class gets out and put your stuff down in front of your lane, the exercise class attendings and others will claim them if you walk away or go to sauna and they will yell at you if you don't wait the intermission from 10a to 10:15a even though the lanes are setup and no one is in the pool. Some will offer to share a lane, but yeah, I have come here to swim three different times now and only one of them was I able to lap swim, one time it was under maintenance, came back two days later when they said early and walked away waiting for class to get out and then someone else claimed my lane. Annoyed. Ill come back later, they have a reservation process but I think that is for whole pool, maybe I can schedule my lane so I don't have to arrive 30min early and stand next to the pool and squat the lane until it opens. Seems like a good time to read a book right? Anyways yeah, not happy with it much, but there's not really other options for lap swim, I come for Saint Croix Falls, WI
The best gym I've been to! Everyone is positive and helpful! Kids stuff(childcare) is the best, shout-out to Lulu and all the other wonderful staff, my kids love you all and we are beyond thankful for your hard work! All the staff in each department decorated a door and have a contest going on ! So fun. This is the "kids stuff" door!
The Front desk workers are super rude and uninviting towards kids. it does not feel like a community whatsoever, and there are very impatient.
Dirty, equipment in poor condition, falling apart. Not enough equipment for number of members. Long wait times. Holes in walls. Avoid.
The Forest Lake YMCA is an incredibly run facility. A recent post specifically called out a staff member (Kelsey) with a negative review. Frankly, I can't even fathom what galaxy that person is from, since Kelsey specifically assisted me with a membership issue. She is actually a truly incredible human. As far as the facilities, the administration has done a great job in a dynamic time for Forest Lake as the community explodes in population size and demographic changes.
