What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for the YMCA present a mixed but predominantly negative picture. Many members express significant frustration with ongoing construction, including the closure of the main entrance and large potholes in the parking lot, which they feel are met with apathy by management. Concerns are also raised about overcrowding, reduced operating hours, and a lack of new or replacement equipment, despite an increase in membership numbers. Several negative experiences highlight poor customer service, with staff being described as indifferent, unhelpful, and dismissive, particularly towards prospective members, leading to accusations of bias or racism. On the positive side, some members praise specific programs like the blood pressure class, crediting excellent wellness coaches for tangible health improvements. Other positive feedback notes friendly and helpful staff (contradicting some negative experiences), clean facilities, a good variety of equipment, and the effectiveness of the eGym system.

We pay for the membership, not for the inconvenience! YMCA shows apathy in satisfying members. The construction project between the library and the YMCA in the parking lot has been a source of frustration. The situation has worsened with the recent closure of the main entrance, and the construction company has shown no willingness to complete the renovation. In addition, there are huge potholes that end up destroying vehicle tires.
They have been lucky enough to retain members from all the local gyms that have closed so you think that they would cater to the new members instead they’re cutting the hours not replacing equipment and not adding equipment when they have double the members… it’s constantly packed you can’t get a good workout!! The employees are nice, but the people that make the decisions don’t care! If I can find a reasonably priced Jim, locally, I will be gone
I went for the blood pressure class and it truly helped me improve my health. The wellness coaches are excellent. I've tried with medicine and the doctor's advice, but this was the most effective. Big thanks to the wellness coaches
Today I stopped by the YMCA to inquire about membership options. When I arrived, Kathie briefly acknowledged me and suggested I take a look around before deciding. However, she made no effort to offer a tour or guidance so I wandered the building alone (first red flag). After exploring on my own, I returned to the front desk where Kathie and another staff member, Ajeet (AJ), were engaged in casual conversation. Despite making eye contact with me and clearly seeing I was waiting, they continued chatting for nearly five minutes without acknowledging me. Finally, AJ asked if I needed help, and I explained that I was ready to move forward with discussing membership options. He responded by saying that the person who handles that was about to leave for the day (second red flag). This was incredibly frustrating, especially since Kathie could have shared that detail when I first arrived. Instead, she allowed me to waste time wandering, which felt intentional and dismissive. When I asked if there was any information I could take home, AJ replied, “Most people just apply online are you looking for discounts or something?” (final red flag). I was shocked by the level of indifference and subtle hostility throughout the interaction. No one inquiring about membership should be met with such disregard. The tone, body language, and lack of effort all sent a clear message: I was not welcome. Whether it was unconscious bias or blatant racism, the experience was unacceptable. It’s 2025 this kind of treatment should no longer be happening in any organization, let alone one that claims to serve and uplift the community.
Love this place. Staff is very friendly and helpful, the facilities are clean, and it has a good variety of equipment. Egym is a great workout.
