This place is incredible. I am in town visiting from Portland and was able to visit as a guest and if I lived here, I would absolutely join. The food and drinks are incredible and the pool is amazing. Every person that works there is really friendly and helpful.
Okay, so I love this place! It's such a nice vibe! There's a bar, fitness center, co-working area, pool. It's the perfect spot to spend an entire day at. If you were born and raised in New Orleans, you know this is the former building of the Children’s Museum. There is so much nostalgia there and walking through the doors remembering where everything used to be!! It's newly opened in the Warehouse District-- steps away from all the things. I stopped by today and it's lovely. Drinks were good - did not try food. Staff is amazing. The fitness center has your basic equipment but still useful for a decent workout. The co-working area is quaint and quiet. Absolutely love the pool and the view of my beautiful city!! Did get a visitor from a rodent friend while in the lobby area, one of the staff members mentioned it happens sometimes. Keep in mind this place is basically steps away from the CBD of New Orleans, it’s common. Regardless of that, this place is super clean. The Common House is member only and card only. I love this, of course coming back soon to enjoy all amenities.
Common House was the perfect backdrop for our luxury day party (Ready. Set. Bloom!) - elevated, effortless, and exceptionally well-designed. From the curated interiors to the seamless hospitality, every detail complemented the vibe we envisioned. The space set the tone, and our guests felt it from the moment they walked in. A true gem for elevated gatherings.
So I can hear with my friend who is a member and I must say this place has me sold! Everything is so nice and the people are so friendly here! I love all the areas you can work in and the roof top pool is an added plus! I love how you can only enter with a key card! The bread and cocktails are great too!!
I have been to Common House several times via invite and have been underwhelmed in a different way every time. My first red flag was the disappointment that was the Super Bowl party. One would assume that of all events, something as major as a Super Bowl watch party in the city hosting the event would be fun and memorable. Instead, the guests were served what appeared to be leftovers, cold food and small portions/not enough for everybody. At one point they served some kind of cookie shot cup with no alcohol or drink at all. Just a dry, stale cookie cup thing. Also, maybe have more than a few dozen chicken wings and limp celery sticks for a hundred guests. Things happen. Events are fumbled but that isn't the deal breaker. I have returned to Common House several times since the Super Bowl and each visit has had one thing in common. Poor service and attentiveness are the only consistent offering here. At the restaurant and bars, you are essentially on your own. The restaurant charges you 20% additional fee on top of what seemed to be a decent deal when ordering. The food was good and worth the listed menu price. $14 for a burger and $6 for fries is reasonable pricing especially considering the atmosphere. What is not reasonable is charging a flat 20% at the end of your meal without word from the server and only some heads up in the fine print at the bottom of the menu. Who reads that? Shouldn't that be some word from the servers to inform diners? No "Have you dined with us before?" Are you supposed to also tip at the end? Does this mean that you're expected to pay 20% service fee (who knows how that is "distributed" to the staff) and then an additional 20% tip to the server? Is the expectation that I am paying 40% on top of my bill the norm here? Over $30 each for two people at lunch is insanity. Make it make sense... All of that being said maybe I would not have such a problem with the "house fee" as they call it if the service were actually good or passable. My time dining in the restaurant got to the point where I felt I was being held against my will because I couldn't even find a server to ask for my check. The bartenders and cocktail servers seem like they are just set loose with little training. They are not engaging nor do they provide even amateur level service. Chic-Fil-A hires teenagers that do a better job. Why are staff members just congregating behind the bar and eating in full view of guests? The last thing I want to see is somebody eating, not washing their hands and going to serve drinks/food to others. Common House seems to me like an out of place concept from out of towners that does not connect with what New Orleans is about. I feel bad for members that pay a monthly fee so they can be taken advantage of at every transaction. This place is not for locals. You're better off going to a coffee shop or Library. Edit: That is a lovely ChatGPT response to a genuine review. However, with exception of the Super Bowl party, each of my 4 visits that I am referencing were within the last 3 months. Additionally, you did not provide an actual chance to connect directly to further discuss my concerns. Maybe ChatGPT didn't have your contact information to include. Have a blessed day!
