Established in 1855, this nonprofit center offers fitness facilities, cultural programming, and summer camps.
The campus features two heated pools: a 25-yard, 4-lane lap pool maintained at 80-82 degrees Fahrenheit (26.7-27.8°C), and a warm water pool, ideal for lessons and therapy, kept at 90-92 degrees Fahrenheit (32.2-33.3°C).
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The JCC generally receives positive feedback, particularly for its friendly, polite, and professional staff. Members appreciate the affordability, extensive facilities including gym equipment, weight rooms, an indoor track, basketball courts, and multiple pools (lap, family, and children's play). It's recognized for offering a wide array of classes and activities for both children and adults, good security, and ample parking. However, some reviews highlight areas for improvement. Concerns include limited accessibility to the lap pool, which is often used for summer camps, and a perceived focus on the elderly with fewer offerings for young to middle-aged adults. The Metairie location, in particular, has fewer aqua aerobics classes, often scheduled in the mornings. Critics also note the absence of services like IFBB trainers, massage/tanning beds, or social hours commonly found in other private clubs. Inconsistent policies between the Metairie and Uptown locations, such as differing insurance acceptance (e.g., Silver Sneakers not accepted at Uptown), cause frustration. While valued by many, some suggest it might be less competitive on price or offerings compared to other fitness centers.

I think this is a really good place to go work out on machines they do have a swimming pool, which is probably only open in the summer because it’s an outside pool. The prices are affordable and beneficial for several classes of people in my case I fall into one of the categories that has a good price, there is a very large parking lot. The security is very good here as you can imagine. It is a very very busy place because not only do they have the workout facility, but they also have two different other forms of activities for younger people.
Its a great facility for the elderly but they don't have many offerings for young to middle age adults. Main complaint is they have a lap pool but its only really open for the summer camp. They have enough gym equipment but they don't offer ifbb trainers. Other than the gym equipment, they don't offer any other services like massage tables or tanning beds. Unlike other private clubs, the JCC doesn't have social hours for its members. If you are geriatric this is a great place. But planet fitness is much cheaper and so is the fitness place in lakeview.
Great gym, classes, activities and more for an affordable price. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful.
This is a wonderful fitness center and so much more. I keep discovering more and more things that JCC offers for it's members. They have lots of activities and classes for children as well as adults! You should really go to Michelle's Pilates Mat class on Tuesday evenings at 5:30 p.m. and her Core & More class on Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m. She is a really wonderful and experienced fitness instructor! :) The staff is very nice and professional here starting at the front desk downstairs. The front desk staff is very very nice and will do whatever it takes to help you with what you need to get started over there. The fitness manager Alexis is a great fitness professional there. They have many fitness classes to choose from each week a.m. and p.m. They have an indoor track for walking or running. They have a weight room and also lots of machines to work out on. A basketball court and gymnasium. Many pool to choose from. A lap pool, a family pool and a children's play pool! So impressed about that! The do have locker rooms and showers and changing areas. There is a school attached to the fitness center. Overall a great place and I will definitely recommend it to my friends.
Let me say first, the staff here is so polite. They are so nice. I loved the thought of the gym because it had a pool, but there are like only two aqua aerobics classes a week in Metairie. That’s why I wanted to try the gym. I should’ve called around first. That’s my bad, but they also have a uptown gym with more classes and better times. I like evening classes, and most of Metairie’s id morning classes. You can see online. Uptown has way more classes and times. I called uptown to see if I could switch, and I explained why uptown would be better for me. I’m disabled, so I have silver sneakers. They said they don’t take that. Their policies are about to change, so the lady I spoke with tried to find out if that was one of the changes. When she called me back, she said that wouldn’t be one of the changes. That’s so bummed that both gyms don’t take the same insurance policies. To me, it makes no sense. I have an appointment today with Ochsner. I’m a patient there. Not only do they have a pool, they have hot tubs as well. Hope I like it, the classes, and times
