What are people saying (AI review summary)? Five Star Swim School - Princeton generally garners high praise for its exceptionally clean, well-maintained facilities, comfortable pool temperature, and a welcoming, professional atmosphere. Many reviewers commend the quality of instruction, highlighting patient, knowledgeable instructors who effectively build students' confidence and skills, even for hesitant beginners. The school is noted for its small class sizes, structured curriculum, personalized attention, user-friendly online scheduling, and excellent communication. Lifeguards are often mentioned as being alert, and the front desk staff are frequently described as friendly and helpful. However, there are significant criticisms. One parent reported a traumatic experience where their 3-year-old nearly drowned during a trial session due to a trainer leaving the child unsupervised and without proper support. Other concerns include a recent significant price increase, making it less affordable for families with multiple children, and observations of employees chatting during lessons, which some perceive as a lack of professionalism. While the school's environment is often praised as beautiful, the high cost for a 30-minute lesson taught by young adults is a point of contention for some.

Five Star Swim School - Princeton is truly a gem for families in the Princeton, NJ area! I can confidently say this is one of the best swim schools we’ve encountered. From the moment you walk into the facility, you are welcomed with a warm, professional atmosphere and a team that genuinely cares about each student’s progress and confidence in the water. The facility on Main Street is exceptionally clean, well-maintained, and designed with young swimmers in mind. The pool is always a comfortable temperature, and safety is clearly a top priority. There are plenty of seating areas for parents to observe classes, and the layout allows for easy viewing without crowding. The front desk staff is friendly, organized, and always ready to help with scheduling or any concerns. What sets Five Star Swim School apart is the quality of the instruction and the personalized attention each student receives. The instructors are incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and skilled at teaching swimmers of all levels—from babies and toddlers in the beginner classes to older children preparing for swim team or stroke refinement. Our child started out hesitant and nervous around water, but thanks to the calm and encouraging teaching style, they now look forward to every swim class with excitement. Another highlight is their structured yet flexible curriculum. Students are grouped by both age and skill level, ensuring that they are challenged appropriately and can progress at a comfortable pace. The instructors give regular feedback to both students and parents, and it’s clear that the staff takes a hands-on, student-centered approach to learning. They celebrate each milestone—big or small—which keeps motivation high. We especially appreciate the small class sizes, which allow for more individual instruction. The school also offers private lessons and adaptive swim programs, making it a fantastic choice for children with special needs or those who benefit from a one-on-one setting. The school’s online scheduling and parent portal are user-friendly and make it easy to book classes, track attendance, and stay updated on your swimmer’s progress. Their communication is excellent—email and text updates are sent regularly, and they are quick to respond to any questions. Parking is convenient, and the school is located in a safe, easily accessible part of Princeton, just off Main Street. It’s close to local shops and cafes, making it easy for parents to run errands or relax nearby while waiting for their child’s class to finish. Overall, Five Star Swim School - Princeton lives up to its name in every way. It provides a nurturing environment where children not only learn to swim but also build life-long water safety skills and confidence. Whether you’re just starting swim lessons or looking to improve advanced strokes, this school is an outstanding choice. Highly recommended for families in the Princeton, West Windsor, Plainsboro, and surrounding NJ areas looking for a professional and caring swim school experience!
Feedback from my 9 yr old: The swim school in Princeton is a great place for kids to learn swimming. They have great teachers. For example, whenever I’m in my class, if I don’t properly do my swimming technique, my teacher helps me understand how to do the technique. Finally, they have great snacks that cost $5.00 and below! They also have free lollipops of different flavors. This is why, if you are looking for an amazing swim school for your kids or yourself, you should go to the Five star swim school in Princeton.
Worst experience! Please do not send your toddlers to this school. My 3yo almost drowned here on her first ever trial session. Her first time in a pool and the trainer just leaves her to attend another kid just saying hold the edge. She couldn't hold on to it obviously and was struggling to stay afloat. No floats no one to hold her or attend to her it being her first time. She struggled for quite a long time, another trainer in the pool helped her but it took time for him to realize she is drowning. My mistake I did not stay close to her thinking she will be taken care of. She was traumatized on her first pool session and refused to go in the pool. Worst worst worst experience!
My daughter is thriving at 5star. The facilities are super clean and I love that the lifeguards are always alert walking around instead of sitting. The staff is friendly and attentive and the lessons have built my daughter’s confidence so much. I highly recommend 5 Star!
We were very excited to come back and join the team today! Unfortunately after realizing they went up in price by 50$ I was okay with the 119$ mark. It is just something we are not willing to pay for two children enrolling. Happy to see a more welcoming lobby area and more life guards on duty. Still noticed chatting between employees while a timed lesson is going on which was a huge reason we left to begin with. There was no professionalism. The front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. Overall a beautiful school but overpriced for a 30 minute course taught by young adults. If this works for you and your family have some extra fun for us!
