Public pool supervised by the YMCA, with plenty of lifeguards.
As a public outdoor swimming pool, the temperature of Ripper Pool is primarily ambient, influenced by the prevailing weather conditions and sun exposure during its operational season. Specific, consistently published temperature data is generally not available, as it is not typically a heated or temperature-controlled facility.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for this pool are overwhelmingly negative, citing numerous operational and management issues. Common complaints include frequent and lengthy closures for hourly breaks and chemical adjustments, resulting in extremely limited actual swim time for visitors (often just 15 minutes for hours spent at the facility). Many reviewers experienced frustration with overly strict, 'militant' lifeguards who reportedly exhibited poor decorum, made children cry, and enforced rules that prohibited typical swimming activities like holding breath underwater. Further issues include being denied access to lockers or empty chairs, a taped-off children's area with no explanation, and one instance of the pool being closed entirely due to 'too hot' weather. Patrons expressed extreme disappointment, felt it was a waste of money, and strongly advised others against visiting.

This place is absurd. Every aspect, from the broken chairs we sat in, to the over baring life guards made this experience terrible. After observing multiple power trip and attitude issues from the life guards, I had enough. I saw several children in tears because the life guards don’t know how to speak to children about rules or safety conduct. The real kicker was seeing two little girls removed from the pool for holding their breath under water. This is not an exaggeration. It’s a pool that no one is allowed to do much of anything in, including typical swimming. This is a situation of training young adults to be militant rather than to have common sense and better decorum. Our family will not be wasting our time going back. This was not about safety. It was about rules for sake of rules and poor training on how to speak to people in public places. Please read the other reviews before attempting a visit here that way you won’t have to watch your own children cry because of the lack of understanding in how a child’s mind works.
A very low price for a nice amount of entertainment. I would suggest getting there early and the concessions are fine
Worst experience ever! When we got there, they were on a 15 minute break which they do every hour now. It was $20 For 2 senior citizens and 2 Small grandchildren. They have lockers, but they won’t let you use them. Also, There were empty chairs, but they would not let us use them either. Then after we finally had actually got to get in the pool for 5 minutes, They blew the whistle again and said everybody out, something about the chemicals and it was gonna be additional 30 more minutes. Couldn’t they have figured this out before the pool opened? Also, the small children area was completely taped off and wouldn’t let you in there at all With no explanation so we left and will never go back! My advice is, don’t waste your money. There are lots of other pools in Yukon and nearby areas cheaper that you can actually swim in.
Me, my friend, my grandchildren all went to River Park on Father’s Day. Cost is $20 to get in which is not bad soon as we got there around 1 o’clock you couldn’t get in the water you had to wait until they go in cause they’re on break. Finally got the water for about 15 minutes. Everybody was called out of the water because he had to, put more chemicals or chemicals or whatever they said about 30 minutes or longer. Like I said we got there at 1 o’clock and left at 3:32 and only got to play in the water for almost 15 minutes. I’m very disappointed we used to really like going there , but it has changed and gotten bad.
Whoever is running this public pool should be fired! It's the end of June, and after spending the previous night planning with my family to have a family pool day we get there, only to find out they are closed because it's to HOT!!! It's a swimming pool people, it's supposed to be hot outside, so I'm guessing they'll be closed all summer cause I don't think its going to get any cooler in July or August!!! This place is a joke, Bethany is really going down hill!!!
