Recreation center providing a swimming pool, theater, and golf, plus shuffleboard, and a bar.
The outdoor family pool at Tierra Del Sol Recreation Center is typically heated. While specific daily temperatures are not publicly listed, pools in The Villages are generally maintained at a comfortable temperature, often in the low to mid-80s Fahrenheit, to allow for year-round enjoyment, especially during cooler seasons.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The Tierra del Sol complex offers various amenities with mixed reviews. The restaurant, under new management, generally receives positive feedback for its extensive menu, attentive and pleasant service (even when busy), and overall good food quality, with highlights like the 'Coach's fried pork loin sandwich' despite minor issues like a salty French dip. It offers both indoor and outdoor seating, has defined lunch and dinner hours, and provides accessibility features, though the rear entrance and tight table spacing were noted. Conversely, the bar service is criticized for its cold staff and inconsistent happy hour pricing. The golf course is highly praised for its excellent layout, maintenance, and staff, with the only minor detractor being spray dye on the greens. The community theatre is appreciated as a 'black box style' venue with good lighting, orchestra, and acting, though its small size is a recognized limitation.
Reviews
Tierra del Sol - the restaurant. At this location there is a Recreation Center, an adult only pool, a golf course and golf shop. Also there is a theater and the restaurant I am reviewing today. Two companions and Iwent there today for lunch to "check it out". There has always been a restaurant there but this one is Under New Management and we wanted to check their menu and food quality. Entrance to the restaurant is a the rear of the building, and after being redirected by a pleasant employee we finally got to the hostess station. We were immediately seated as we were early for lunch which was good because it filled up very fast. We chose the outside dining which is a screened-in patio but there is also indoor seating which is air conditioned. They serve lunch from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and then dinner from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. They also have happy hour half-price drinks from 3 to 5 p.m. We had a lovely server who brought us menus and took our drink orders and told us about the specials of the day. There is a lunch menu and a dinner menu - see the pictures attached. I ordered the egg salad sandwich (made fresh daily) with a side of french fries. The egg salad was made with what I believe to be a homemade dressing with a hint of mustard. The egg salad had chopped celery which was not distringed unfortunately. But on the whole was a good sandwich. My first companion, order the French dip. It was very meaty with good roast beef but she found the French dip fairly salty. And my other companion ordered the 'Coach's fried pork loin sandwich'. It was the best sandwich of the three. It's pork loin breaded and deep-fried and served with lettuce and tomato on a hard roll. All of sandwiches came with a side. The side choices are fresh made chips, french fries or a homemade cavatappi macaroni salad. The menu is extensive so everyone should be able to find something. We truly enjoyed our meal and even though the restaurant was very busy we did not feel rushed and all the servers were very pleasant. We three had water and our glasses were refilled without asking. A very pleasant lunch was had and we will be back. The restaurant itself was clean but a little tight for the disabled to navigate the tables. It has a handicapped entrance and has handicapped accessible seating and restrooms. But please note again the entrance is in the rear so if you come by car you have a walk. But there is golf cart parking only near the entrance in the back.
The bar service is not pleasant. The staff seem cold and from day to day the prices change for happy hour. Staff could be more pleasant. Four of us noticed the same thing on different occasions.
In my opinion, this course has one of the best layouts of all the courses in the villages. Granted, I only played 6 championship courses, but it's very well maintained with a great staff. The only issue I had was the spray dye on the greens. Otherwise, it's a great place to play.
Alyssa did a fabulous job with 14 people being her last table of the night. Food was great. Hostess were very friendly and made sure everything was perfect. Thank you!!
Great little community theatre. True black box style. Had some nice lighting. The orchestra for the play was great. Acting was good as well. Biggest downfall is size of venue. But consider location is probably quite perfect.
