What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for this gym present a mixed but often positive picture, particularly regarding its inclusive atmosphere, extensive amenities, and diverse class offerings. Many members praise the non-judgmental and friendly environment, suitable for all ages and body types, including those in rehab. The variety of classes, from ballet to cycling, and the quality of instructors (like Emilianne P., Noah, and Anne Marie) are frequently highlighted as excellent. Amenities such as two warmed pools, saunas, steam rooms, jacuzzis, and a wide array of equipment are consistently lauded as valuable, with some considering them worth the membership cost alone. The 'no videoing' policy and the convenience of an on-site Urgent Care are also appreciated. Some positive experiences with individual trainers (e.g., Siena) and improved customer service are also mentioned. However, significant negative feedback revolves around personal training policies and overall management practices. Several reviewers describe trainers as overly focused on selling sessions, and express strong dissatisfaction with the gym's refusal to refund unused personal training sessions upon membership cancellation or trainer termination, often leading to considerable financial loss. Accusations of unethical practices include charging members for services after a beloved trainer was unexpectedly fired without client notification, prompting many to leave. Frequent increases in gym membership and training fees are a common complaint. Management is criticized for allegedly being dismissive of negative feedback and only acknowledging positive reviews, contributing to a perception of poor customer care regarding financial policies.

I joined this gym for the pools, stayed for the cool classes, sauna, non-judgmental vibe, no videoing anywhere policy, very kind staff, and the best trainer ever (Emilianne P.) Look, I’m an old lady. I go to the gym to do old lady stuff, not listen to 100 blaring tvs, loud EDM, or be made fun of by college girls, which happened at another gym repeatedly in this area. MLHFC is old people and family friendly. Yes, the weight area on the first floor is a bit small but it has almost everything and is only crowded at the usual expected times. The variety of classes offered is great - I got to do all kinds of things I never did before - the ballet and pilates-inspired classes are especially amazing, I enjoyed the bike classes, the weight and dance-inspired ones too, and the instructors have all been phenomenal. Plenty of treadmills, tons of machines, lots of accessories like balls bars and bands, they have a Jacob’s Ladder, and the stretching area is really useful for me. But for me, it’s the vibe of the place that led me to rejoin post-chemo. Gyms can be intimidating and that’s why I didn’t set foot in one for years after those nasty girls pointed and laughed at my fat a** trying to get in shape. MLHFC is filled with ages and bodies of all kind, including older people who may be in physical rehab. There’s no peacocking, no rude people flinging weights for views, everyone wears normal gym clothes, and it’s mostly just a bunch of normal suburban people of all ages and walks of life trying to feel healthy. Patrons are friendly and helpful but you can also just zone out with headphones alone and nobody bothers you. I am bald and kind of unpleasant looking right now and I don’t get a second glance there as compared to being out in public in other places. For me one of the best things about it is there’s an Urgent Care on the same floor!! I threw out my back in a class once and the staff helped me right down to UC. From reading other reviews, I know experiences differ but mine has been positive. I ended my membership when I was too sick to continue going, and it was super quick and easy. I do hear the issue with the personal training/unable to refund if you leave the gym. This happened to me too, was a big bummer and a financial OUCH for me at the time, but I gifted my remaining sessions to someone else through my trainer and I hope they got some joy and health from them. So if you are looking for a chill gym with a lot of amenities for the price (the two warmed pools, lap pool and sauna are worth the money alone for me), try it out!
RIP OFF !! Trainers are sales folks who would push you to buy personal sessions. Managers like to play the big Boss and wouldn’t care less if you lost your hard earned money. As per the policy we can’t do so and so but we won’t tell you about it when you purchase the sessions is the overall mantra. DO NOT buy personal sessions, stick to YouTube. Not to mention the frequent increase in gym membership fees to keep milking money from your pocket. Bonus : If you look at the above reviews management only thanks good feedbacks (probably made by themselves lol) and are blind towards feedback to improve. I hope people don’t get tricked like me. Wouldn’t recommend this place to my friends. Swimming pool, Sauna and Jacuzzi are clean and good. Lot of friendly people in the swim area. If you are only into that and don’t mind spending exorbitant amounts for it. You would like it .
Over all this gym has been a great experience. The customer service has improved and it's never to busy. Most of the time the equipment is available. Love the steam room. It also has hot tub and sauna. Two large pools also. Side note. I have noticed members have been leaving towls and discarded items in the locker room more. The staff need to check this more regularly. Or members that read this. Close your locker and clean up after yourself. Who raised you? Update. The past couple months I have noticed the management walking around and checking on locker rooms and more. So thank you !! Ps im posting signs on sauna door no cell phone.
I really love it here! The facilities are super nice, the classes are fun and well-run, and the trainers are fantastic. I especially enjoy the yoga classes with Noah and Anne Marie—they’re amazing. I’ve also been taking advantage of the free personal training sessions that come with the membership, and Siena has been incredible. She’s so good at making me feel comfortable and personalizing everything to fit me. I couldn’t recommend this place more!
The saltwater pool was great and I had started working with a fabulous trainer. I worked with her for many year despite the training fees going up as well as the membership fees. She helped manage my pain levels. Management suddenly fired her with no notice to her clients. She was going to work there part time and elsewhere part time. I was going to stay with her at the gym. Most of us only stayed at the gym because she was there. They claimed she was pilfering clients which was not true. There was no other trainer there that I felt safe with because of my multiple physical issues and yet when I told Shelly about this they still charged me an extra month fee. I had not used the facility since they fired my trainer in August and yet they charged me for September too. Beware if you join that they will nickel and dime you to death. I feel this is an unethical practice.
