Breakwater Bay was the name of the water park area at Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH, prior to its extensive redevelopment and rebranding as Cedar Point Shores Waterpark in 2017. This aquatic destination featured a large wave pool, a lazy river, various water slides, and other family-friendly attractions, offering a refreshing complement to the amusement park experience during the summer months.
Specific pool temperatures for the outdoor pools at Breakwater Bay (now Cedar Point Shores Waterpark) are generally not publicly disclosed by the park. As an outdoor water park, the pool temperatures are typically subject to ambient weather conditions and are primarily warmed by the sun, rather than being actively heated.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews present a mixed bag of experiences. One visitor highly praised Cedar Shores' wave pool for its exceptionally warm water and realistic, uncrowded waves, expressing a desire for more places to match this quality. In contrast, several reviews reported significant dissatisfaction due to understaffing, leading to numerous slides and attractions being closed, making the experience too expensive for the limited activities available. While some found typical wave pools fun, others noted that they are often crowded.
Reviews
This was the first time we visited Cedar Shores, and we were concerned about the water temperature of the wave pool, especially since the outside temperature was in the lower 70s. Wow, this pool was very heated, almost like warm bath water. We were very impressed. The waves were also very realistic. We've been to a lot of other wave pools that are barely noticeable. Not here. You can see the crest of the waves forming and crashing. It also didn't feel that deep, maybe no more than 5-6 feet at the deepest point. One could say that the pool was crowded, but for a Saturday, it never felt crowded. Everyone had plenty of space, even with unpredictable waves. The lounge chairs were also plentiful and spread out over a wide area. Overall, it was a great experience, and we wish more places would heat their pools like this. We have a wave pool near us, and we'd be willing to drive to this one based on water temperature alone.
Understaffed so our kids couldn’t ride 4 slides at H2O. Pretty disappointing I felt it at cedar point also with the minimal staff…
Typical wave pool, no complaints though it is fun!
Paid more to come here and half of it was closed, then they closed more. Would not recommend too expensive for little to do, will not come back and do it.
So much fun But it's usually crowded
