Popular aquatic center offering a kiddie pool, a lap pool, diving boards and a lazy river for all ages.
Specific, consistently published pool temperatures for the Kirkwood Aquatic Center are not readily available. As an outdoor facility, temperatures can vary with weather conditions. However, public aquatic centers typically maintain comfortable water temperatures, generally ranging from 78-82°F (25.5-27.8°C), for optimal enjoyment and safety during the swimming season.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The majority of reviews highlight significant issues, particularly for non-residents. Common complaints include a convoluted and time-consuming entry process requiring a walk to a separate building (ice rink) for a pass, followed by a walk back to the pool. The non-resident entry fee of $17 per person is consistently deemed excessive, high, and even a 'scam,' especially given the reported problems. Several reviews detail non-functional water features, such as slides, water buckets, and blasters, leading to extreme disappointment, especially among children, with no discounts offered. Staff behavior, particularly lifeguards, is a major point of contention, with reports of rudeness, inconsistent rule enforcement (sometimes perceived as discriminatory), and unusual restrictions on personal items like baby floats and goggles. While one positive review praised the facility's beauty, the lazy river, and the kids' area with ample shade, the overall sentiment from most reviewers is one of profound disappointment, frustration, and a strong declaration of never returning.

Didn’t even make it into the building. If you are a non resident you have to walk to the ice rink to get a pass and then walk back to get in. I have never had to do this at any pool I’ve gone to, and I find it silly. It is $17 to get in which is a few dollars higher than most places I’ve frequented. Start of our experience for me today was not worth it, however, the front desk girl was very nice.
The most disappointing experience. $17 per ticket for non-resident. We went out of our way to go to this pool specifically for the bigger slide in the kids area. We show up and virtually none of the water features are working. They had a hose hanging over the slide so some water was going down but kids would go so slow and then end up stopping mid way and not being able to slide down all the way. The lifeguard would have to go and pull the kid down the rest of the way on the slide. No big bucket, no water blasters, nothing. My kids tried the slide once and was disappointed. Not tall enough for the big slide so they just swam for a little while. $17 a ticket is a complete scam. If you have problems with the water then a discount of some sort should’ve been offered/given. So disappointing!!!!
Took a chance on attending this pool I have never been to. The $17 fee although excessive, was the most pleasant part of the entire experience. My son wanted to jump off the diving board so we waited in line and jumped off of one of two diving boards that were available. As soon as I hit the water, I hear the lifeguard reprimanding me about how I had to exit the pool from the wall (ADA compliant??) and how the people who jump off the diving boards are supposed to go one at a time. no signage, no heads-up , but OK no problem I will get out of the pool…. I then hear this Lifeguard shout to me.” Any day now.” … as if I am not swimming to the wall and getting out of the pool fast enough. I immediately walked up to that little lifeguard person and asked to repeat what was said. They actually stood there and ignored me until I walked away. It wasn’t until I had completely walked away and turned around that we made eye contact and he was smiling, completely proud of his rudeness and disrespectful manner. (Racially motivated… maybe) I never jumped off of the board again, (experience ruined!) but sure did notice all the other people there jumping 2 at a time /whenever they wanted and getting out at the ladder as I should’ve been allowed to do. If there is a rule for safety, I understand it and I will abide by it, but apply it consistently across all your patrons not just the ones with dark skin. I will never go back to that pool again!!!! Weird vibes!!!!!! Subpar lifeguards!!
This place was wild. We wanted to try a new place and we drove 25 mins to get here...then we had to walk to a different building, wait in line for 20 mins to get a pass to walk back to the waterpark and get in. Spent $68 just to get in mind you. Then they tell me we couldn't use our baby float because he could slip out? Uh that float was safer than the life jacket they provided. He definitely would not have slipped out it had a net he was sitting in with a strap AND I was holding him. Then they tell one of my older sons he can't wear goggles while jumping off the diving board because they might come off and go into a panic like some people do....what?! lol We won't be back. Really just can't live life these days.
Beautiful! The lazy river takes you past some really nice smelling flowers. The kids area has fun for all ages. Lots of shade (for the pasty among us) as well as lots of sun!
