What are people saying (AI review summary)? Shaw Park pool is highly regarded for its excellent facilities, including a 50-meter lap pool, a dive tank with multiple diving boards and a platform, and a kiddie pool, making it suitable for all ages. Reviewers praise its cleanliness, good water quality, pleasant and helpful staff, and the fact that it's generally not too crowded. It's noted as one of the few 50M pools in the region, also featuring a warm-up pool and restrooms. However, a significant point of contention is the strict residency requirement for passes, which limits access for non-Clayton residents, despite some perceiving it as a public facility. Water temperature can be cool in early summer. Parking involves a paid garage across the street or a walk from free parking south of the park. Spectator seating lacks sun protection.
Reviews
My family has enjoyed Shaw Park, especially on hot, muggy days! The diving boards and different depths of the pool is wonderful for all ages! Now that my family became residents of Clayton we got pool passes fine. But our first summer in St. Louis was rough due to most pool places required residency, with no outside passes available. I do wish that anyone who wanted to swim could be able to swim.
This pool is a treasure and swimming laps outdoors in a 50M pool is wonderful. The water was colder in June and with all the rain still on the cool side for our July 4th swim. The staff is pleasant and the facility does not get too crowded. They have a kiddie pool and an amazing dive tank with diving boards and a platform with three heights for jumping/diving. They have a concession stand for food as well. Check times for lap swimming.
Thankfully I read the reviews first. So I tried calling the Clayton center first and in order to be there which I understand, you have to be residing in Clayton. I reside in the border of Clayton and U-city unfortunately I am in U-City. But when I called this swimming pool place they told me that in order for me to be allowed in I would have to do that first etc. But I wouldn’t be opposed to purchasing a guest pass for the day but once they heard it from U-City they were not as attentive anymore. So unfortunately they state this is public and all but it’s not. 🤷🏻♀️ The person on the phone for Shaw park was nice and helpful, hence the 3 star rating.
Excellent facilty. Clean, well managed. Pool water quality and chemical balance seems well maintained.
One of the regions few 50 meter pools available for club meets. It has a warm up pool and restrooms. The spectator seating has no protection from the sun. Nearby parking is across Brentwood Boulevard in a paid garage. Parking south of the park is free when available, but is roughly .3 miles from the pool area.
