Pool featuring clean facilities plus diving boards, slides and a kiddie area.
The pool at Fossil Park Pool is heated. As part of the City of St. Petersburg's public pool system, it is typically maintained at a comfortable temperature, generally ranging from 80-82°F (approximately 27-28°C), allowing for year-round use.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? Customers have mixed feelings about the pool. Many positive experiences highlight the friendly and helpful staff, particularly Ms. Angie, and the excellent value with affordable pricing. Facilities like slides, diving boards, and shaded pavilions are appreciated, as is the typically perfect water temperature and the popular Friday night swims. However, significant negative feedback points to issues with overcrowding, especially due to rec center camps, leading to disruptive behavior (e.g., football in the pool) and a perceived lack of effective rule enforcement by staff, raising safety concerns. Other complaints include a disliked policy regarding goggles (no nosepiece), allegations of rude swimming instructors, and reduced operating hours (1 pm to 4 pm only), which is considered the hottest part of the day. One reviewer also advises against leaving belongings unattended in locker rooms.

I had a great Sunday FUNDAY at the pool today! The staff was incredibly nice and helpful especially Ms Angie at the front window. My daughter's friend had brought the wrong kind of goggles and we were allowed to borrow exchange them for an appropriate pair. And you really cannot beat the price, $8 covers two adults and three kids 😎
First time and the last time. The pool was open 1-4. We got there when it opened and there were so many kids from the rec center camp it was insane. A group of them were playing football in the pool and constantly disrupting everyone around them. They got told multiple times to move away but no one followed through at all. It was dangerous for the kids and they really need to have better procedures. There's no way that pool wasn't past the capacity limit also.
Worst pool ever. They don't let you wear goggles with a nosepiece...SOME PEOPLE DONT LIKE TO GET WATER IN THEIR NOSE. The swimming teachers are also rude. I had Ms Diana when I was abt 7 or smth and she hated me. She would always be nice to the others but not me. The swimming teachers are narcissists and I will never come back. I hope this place goes out of business.
We love this pool. We havent been during free swim nor movie night. During swim practice or diving we are able to shade under the pavilions, also a nice touch in case of rain. As with any public place that children roam I would advise not to leave belongings in locker rooms. Slides and diving boards are available Happy Swimming.
My son and I swim here every summer. The staff and lifeguards are super nice and very helpful. We love the diving boards and the slide. The water temp is usually always perfect. The only thing is that last year it was open from 10 am-12:30 pm. Then it reopened from 1 pm-4 pm. This year the pool is only open from 1 pm to 4 pm. Not sure why it changed but that's the hottest part of the day. My son gets sunburnt quite easily so I have to keep reapplying sunscreen. But it is what it is. Also every Friday they do a night swim from 7-9, which the teenagers really like. Overall I really like this pool and the baseball fields where my son plays baseball too.
