What are people saying (AI review summary)? The reviews present a mixed but generally positive view of the YMCA's services. Swimming classes receive high praise for their clean facilities, friendly and professional instructors, and effective teaching methods. The gym, kids club, and youth zone are also well-regarded, with staff noted as amazing, happy, and helpful. Exceptional cleanliness, particularly of the bathrooms, is highlighted. However, there are significant criticisms regarding childcare and accommodation for children with disabilities. One highly negative review recounts a child with Down syndrome being expelled from an after-school program due to a lack of accommodations and alleged discrimination, despite prior notification. Another review criticizes childcare management, specifically a new manager, for lacking experience and not prioritizing children's needs, leading to a recommendation against their childcare services. While some management is noted for quickly resolving issues, these specific childcare concerns stand out against an otherwise positive perception of staff and facilities.

I should have paid more attention to the reviews about kids with disabilities. I thought those were not true, but I was wrong. My daughter with Down syndrome was expelled, or as they called it, "suspended indefinitely," from the after-school program at her school, Tampa Palms Elementary, after only two days because they didn't have the required accommodations for her. Of course, the official reason was "safety concerns". It was her first time at this after-school program. She was attending a different program in a daycare, but she was old enough to leave the daycare since she is 7 years old. For the YMCA program, her behavior was not expected because she has Down syndrome, and they cannot take care of her because they have groups of 20 kids to care for, as the director of the program explained to me. We enrolled her in this program back in June. They knew a girl with some accommodations would be joining, but they didn't care. They only want "regular" kids to manage because they have a lot of kids in the program, and my daughter is a problem for them. They didn't allow her to adjust to the program or understand what was expected of her; instead, they expelled her simply because she was a problem. She is different, just like all of us. Their flyer says, "More than child care, our program nurtures the potential in every kid. Hosted on site at your child's school, the Y helps kids cultivate the values, skills, and relationships that lead to positive behavior, better health, and educational achievement". Please don't trust these marketing words; everything they say is a lie. They only want regular kids with regular needs, and they won't nurture any potential in them as long as they're different.
I seriously do NOT recommend bringing your child here for any type of childcare this location offers. However, Some of the teachers are amazing such as Ms. Laura. Ms. Rachel, Ms. Maddie.. but management could honestly care less about you and your childs needs. They had one amazing teacher, Ms. Emily but she is no longer with the company and we have stopped coming since she left. Ms. Anna is a new manager they have over the childcare department and the staff is constantly mentioning how she lacks experience and has no clue what she is doing. So sad the YMCA would hire someone for a childcare management position with ZERO experience in childcare!
We’ve had a great experience with the swimming classes here! The facility is always clean and well-maintained, which creates a safe and comfortable environment for kids and parents alike. The staff is very friendly and welcoming, and the instructors are fantastic — patient, professional, and truly know how to engage with children. They ensure each child feels confident and supported while learning important swimming skills. One extra benefit I really appreciate as a working parent is the free Wi-Fi connectivity in the waiting area. It makes it easy to stay connected or get work done while my child is in class. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking for quality swim instruction in a supportive environment!
Majority of staff is so amazing and willing to help. Any issues I do have, I take to management and they get the issue resolved expeditiously! My kids love going to the YMCA. I have been dealing with YMCA for over 18years now. Thank you for everything you do
I love this gym. The kids club and youth zone are fantastic and the staff are amazing. The front desk is always happy to see you, and you can tell they really love their job. Also, Orlando the custodian does a wonderful job. I’ve never seen cleaner bathrooms than this :)
