Spacious pool, with a playground, plus a shallow stretch for kids to enjoy.
Specific, regularly published pool temperatures for Fort Shafter Pool are not readily available in public MWR documentation. As an outdoor pool located in Honolulu, Hawaii, its temperature is largely influenced by the tropical climate and ambient weather conditions. It is generally suitable for comfortable year-round use, and information regarding dedicated heating or a constant specific temperature is not widely disclosed.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The Fort Shafter Pool is widely praised as an excellent, family-friendly facility, particularly for young children, offering a warm, shallow kiddie pool (1'6"), a children's cove, and a splash play area, alongside a deeper section (3'-4'). Reviewers appreciate its beautiful landscaping, clean bathrooms, ample seating, and a nearby playground, with many considering it one of the best pools on the island. However, a major point of frustration is its misleading name; it is a private pool exclusively for Island Palm Residents, causing disappointment and inconvenience for non-resident military families. Other minor criticisms include a lack of sufficient shade (only two umbrellas), occasional maintenance needs like vacuuming, and limited on-site snack and drink options, prompting visitors to bring their own refreshments.

kiddie pool side goes to 1' 6". It was nice and warm and I was able to sit down and play. The other side is 3' - 4'. Very good place lot of chairs bathrooms are pretty clean plus lil splash play area. if you have kids of different ages specially under 8.
It’s not for army family or military, it’s a private pool only for Island Palm Residents. They really should rename it to Islam Palm Community Pool. The name Fort Shafter Pool is very misleading, Very poor taste of the base to allow this. I brought my baby ready to swim and we are stationed at Camp Smith. My husband is a Major in the Army and we can’t swim at this pool.
One of the best pools on island. Great for kids, and the location is absolutely beautiful. Fort Shafter itself is a hidden gem of sorts, and this pool is a gem within a gem.
Love this pool (must have Island Palms pool pass to enter.) It has a cute, shallow children's cove and a deeper section for adults and bigger kids. The landscaping is lovely. There is a big playground next door. The pool assistant is not a lifeguard, so parents must watch their kids, but the kids get to have more fun than those pools with extra picky lifeguards. No drink vending and the snack machine is not well stocked, so bring your own.
The pool is nice. Great spot for young kids as they have a shallow pool. The only low spot is there are only 2 umbrellas for the entire pool area which is quite large. Need more umbrellas. Pool needs a good vacuum as well.
