Sprawling, clean facility that offers surfing, restaurants and a floating obstacle course.
Specific, controlled temperatures for the primary water features (the Wai Kai Wave and the Wai Kai Lagoon) are not published, as they are large, open-air bodies of water rather than traditional heated pools. Their temperatures generally reflect the ambient Hawaiian climate, offering comfortable conditions for water activities throughout the year.

Went to Wai Kai for my son’s friend’s 10th birthday party, and it was an absolute blast! Super underrated and hope this post help those looking for some quality time fun with the family. The service was top-notch, and both kids and adults had a great time. The expanded obstacle course now includes more towers to jump from and slides to launch off—super fun and a bit challenging, with the reward being a massive slide you can flip off (if you dare)! We had a cabana overlooking the action, which made the day even better. Great food, cold beers, and awesome company. The cabana comes with a TV, so you can chill and watch surfers either rip or wipe out on the man-made wave while relaxing with some drinks. We ordered the Kali’s Pig Nachos, sliders, meat mod pizza, and pitchers of Michelob Ultra (sponsor plug—you’re welcome 😄). Food was above average for this kind of venue—plenty to share and hit the spot. Way better than the water park 🤦🏻♂️ Highly recommend 👍Wai Kai for local families looking for something different to wrap up the summer. The vibe felt like 70% locals and 30% tourists, which made it feel more homey and chill. Check it out—you won’t regret it. Keep following me—summer 2025 is halfway there!
My family and I had a blast! The price I thought was reasonable. My 22 year old and 12 year old loved both the aqua venture and aquapeakz. Aquapeaks had an elevated course of balance beams and other elevated obstacles. I preferred to just stay on the aquaventure course which is not elevated. There is a child’s course for little kids. There is a nice little cafe with reasonably priced quick eats, a little spot to grab a coffee, bathrooms were clean and well maintained! Even bottle filling fountains. Next time we visit we would like to try the sit down restaurant they have. The food smelled amazing! I didn’t purchase my tickets ahead of time. We went during the week in early August and it wasn’t crazy busy! We did the 3 hour package not full day I felt like that was plenty of time and we were exhausted from all the fun!
It is really fun. Brings our family together and helps us bond more. Gives us memories we will always remember. It is very pricey, though, especially for Hawai'i residents. A lot of us have big families. It costs a lot just for a family of 5. Even with the Kama'aina rate. We spend a lot on the passes, and they don't allow outside food/drinks or let people eat in the parking lot like Wet N Wild allows. So when we add up all the costs for passes, food, & drinks.. we spend quite a lot. If we were able to bring our own food, then it would ease the high cost of things. Some of us can't afford to buy the passes, the food from there, & drinks altogether. To mention food and drinks. Most things taste okay. Drinks are refillable, so that's a plus. & they have a free water dispenser near the restrooms to fill up flasks. That's another plus as well. The cashier girls where you purchase food could smile more. They look mad and sassy all the time. Also could be quicker. One time we ordered a shave ice and instead of working on our shave ice right away, they were inside making cake pops. Waited over 10 minutes for it. Had to keep asking if it was done yet. Then when we got it, it wasn't that great. Could be better. Very icey and chunky. I prefer shave ice that melts in your mouth. Also, the water we swim in could be cleaner. It has a smell & weird taste if the water gets into the mouth. We thought it was a saltwater lagoon, but on Google, it says it's a freshwater lagoon. Not too sure on this though. Asked one of the lifeguards but he wasn't sure either. They offer cabanas, but of course, you need to reserve and pay. We've rented one a few times but not always can we afford to rent one. They do offer first come, first serve seats with umbrellas. I feel like it's not enough, though, especially with how hot Ewa Beach is. Sometimes they have seats but no umbrella over it. That is tough sitting in full sun, especially with a full day pass. It would be awesome if there were more seats with umbrellas available so we don't have to rush in and worry about getting seats. Surprisingly, with the number of people that go there, the restrooms are always clean. Love that! No one likes using a nasty restroom. Other than that, I have no other complaints. We had a great time.
Only reviewing the obstacle course and snack shop, as that is all we did at Wai Kai. The entire facility was new and well maintained. We went on a Friday for the 1000-100pm slot. Slots are in three hour groups (10am to 1pm, and 130-430pm) or an all day pass is available. Ample parking greated us and it was fairly empty so we had our choice of spots. Check in was quick and easy as I had purchased tickets online the day prior and completed the waiver forms. (Everyone has to have a waiver, parents sign for their kids.) The lady working the checkin was polite and helpful. We went from checkin to getting our life jackets. Wete fitted with jackets in under a minute, then had to watch a safety video that lasts 45 seconds or so. From there, it was into the water and onto the obstacles. There are many obstacles. Some you jump off of, some slides, some rope climbs, some hand hold climbs, dodgy pads, balance areas and more. If you have ever seen the TV show "Wipeout," this is a mini version of that. My kids and I loved it. We spent a solid 2.5 hours and were tired when we were done. The full day pass would have been too much for us, but if you've the desire and stamina, I say give it a spin. As we were early on a week day, the crowds were light but picked up after 1130ish. It can get a little crowded, will full size human beings all the way down to little ones, all operating in the same area. Be mindful of you have kids, and if you are full grown, be mindful of the people around you please. The water is a freshwater lagoon, animals live there so be prepared. This is not a nice, chlorinated pool so do not come expecting it. It is a lagoon, the water is what it is. Also, they do have a nice sign that discusses the wildlife that lives in the lagoon. We had a good time and learned a little, too. At 1pm, a horn blasts to let you know it is time to get out of the water. Everyone filed out and headed to the bank of showers. You can rinse off and they have individual tests where you can change. After changing, we headed back to the check in area. As we had rented a locker (which I recommend and it is only $5), I had to turn in the locker bracelet key. Easy enough and we headed over for food. Kids ordered shave ice and that was all we got. The food is a little on the pricey side, but as you cannot bring in your own food & drink, you either come already having eaten or you pay. I'll post pictures of the menus below. From what we saw, the food looked good and the shave ice was tasty. Seating is both indoor and out. Recommend buying tickets in advance, along with doing the waivers in advance. If you want a non-crowded day, I suggest the 1000-100pm slot on a weekday. They also have twilight sessions from 5-6pm for $15, which we might try in the future. Also suggest bringing sunscreen as you are out in the open all day. You can rent cabanas, but we did not. Highly recommend this place. Stretch and be ready to have some fun exercising!
We had an amazing time! We lived the whole wiped out experience! The life guards were amazing! laughed at us while making sure we were safe. I will definitely be returning. Clean facility.
