Makiki Pool, located at 1527 Ke’eaumoku St, Honolulu, HI, is a public swimming facility within Makiki District Park. It typically features a 25-yard main pool and often a shallower keiki (children's) pool, serving the community for lap swimming, recreational use, and aquatic lessons.
The Makiki Pool is an unheated outdoor facility, with its water temperature naturally fluctuating based on the ambient air temperature, offering a refreshing swimming experience.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? This public pool is generally seen as a fun and convenient local spot with good facilities, including bathrooms, showers, and changing stalls. It's a 25-meter pool supervised by lifeguards, offering distinct time slots for lap swimming and free play, which some users find specific or 'annoying.' While appreciated for its central location and accessibility, a significant point of confusion for several reviewers is its separate listing and mapping from the Makiki District Park, despite being on the same grounds, causing navigation difficulties. Parking can also be a challenge due to other nearby recreational activities.

I had NO Clue that the pool which sits in the district of Makiki is a separate 🤷listing? Please look for my review under the district park. A few district parks with pools are also separate from? For some looking for the place that they need to go to especially by bus! Is Very confusing! I'm old school and if it's On the same grounds as everything else! Why Not just " district "? Here I'm thinking that I have to go to 2 different places - 2! Does it have to do with the phone lines? No one to say " let me connect you "? Another senior lady I met talked about how she looked up on maps and became confused about how to get there for she wanted to walk to the park. She followed the map but when it came to the pool it takes a different route? She said she was so mad about it because it's the Same place? She was so funny cause for her she's been wondering " where the hell did they build this pool "? She added " whose idea was this"? Please read my review all of my aloha is there.
A fun local pool for swimmers and families. The entrance is regulated by lifeguards so you can't just enter on a whim. There were 3 lifeguards on standby which makes me feel safe. The pool is divided into two time slots, from 1-3 pm the pool is reserved for lap swimming only and from 3-5 pm they opened a free swimming section where people can play and float in the water. I went on Friday at 4 pm and it was pretty empty so I had the whole free swim area to myself. The facilities are great, there's a lot of bathroom, shower and changing stalls for visitors. There are also other recreational areas nearby such as tennis and pickle ball courts, skateboard ramps so people can cool off at the pool after.
Can you believe it this pool is for public. I like it but schedule is kind of annoying otherwise is great place.
Nice small short pool. Right in town. Parking lot is easy. Hours good
Nice 25 meter pool, strict entry procedures. Parking is a little problem due to tennis, field sports and community garden. Convenient location and access.
