I’ve been a loyal member of this gym for the past five years. Over that time, I’ve seen a constant turnover of staff, which has raised some serious concerns. After getting to know several employees and observing the overall environment, it’s clear that many of them are exhausted—not from the work itself, but from the lack of support and respect from upper management. The General Manager (Petra) often dismisses staff concerns, telling them to “work it out themselves” because she’s “too busy,” and on multiple occasions, I’ve witnessed her speaking unprofessionally to employees in front of both members and other staff. Saying “you do nothing for this team” Additionally, the new Assistant General Manager has been noticeably rude to paying members, myself included, which is disappointing in a service-driven environment. It’s honestly surprising that some employees have stayed as long as they have given the environment. The gym has already lost some great staff members, and I worry what will happen when the remaining strong ones decide they’ve had enough. To be clear, this gym has a lot of positives—it’s a great facility and offers real value to its members. But member satisfaction doesn’t exist in a vacuum. It starts with a positive, respectful, and supportive work environment for the employees who keep things running every day. To management: I hope you take a moment to reflect on how leadership affects not just your staff, but the member experience. The staff are the backbone of this gym, and they deserve to feel appreciated and respected. When they thrive, so do we all

I have had the privilege of being a member at this location for over 6 years- and I can say by FAR- that Zach (senior membership coordinator) is one of the best employees this location has ever had. His kind, genuine and motivating demeanor serves as an excellent representation of this Onelife location, and makes this gym a clean & reliable staple within our local community. If there are any opportunities to promote Zach to a higher position, I would strongly encourage ownership/management to do so. As a previous General Manager of a couple gyms in the Richmond area, I strongly value hardworking and genuine employees like Zach. He is always friendly, encouraging, and helpful. Some others, not so much. ALSO- Corri at the front desk is another A+ rockstar at this location!

I’ve had such a great experience at Onelife, especially working with my personal trainer, John. His knowledge, patience, and motivation have made a huge difference in my workouts, and his guidance is something that will continue to impact my fitness journey for years to come. The gym itself is well-equipped and welcoming, but what really sets it apart is the dedication of trainers like John who truly care about your progress and goals. Highly recommend both the gym and John to anyone looking to take their fitness to the next level!

As an avid gym-goer for more than a decade and early member of Onelife Fitness Hampton, I can confidently say this gym sets the standard. With more than 13,000 members, imagine my surprise (and delight) when I received a holiday card last year congratulating me for being in the top five most consistent members! With that said, I hope that those who are interested in joining this gym can trust my genuine review. As someone who spends long hours writing (aka, glued to a chair), I rely on Onelife to balance my stillness with sweat. And every time I walk through those doors, I’m greeted with the tools, space, and energy I need to do just that. It’s more than a gym: it’s a sanctuary for sore muscles, strong goals, and movement that matters. Here are a few things others haven’t mentioned: Lots of storage options including cubbies, lock boxes and lockers. The aquatics schedule right in front of the restrooms in case you forget or it piques your interest. One of the best monitoring health scales in the restroom. Lots of cleaning stations white towels to pick up at the front of get from the kiosk, tables and chairs, signage with rules or that a class is in session. Lots of cleaning stations, so you don’t have to walk across the gym to use typically 1 of 2 most gyms have, and each station has two cleaning solutions. Lots of core mats, weights stations, televisions, flatscreen with fitness classes, and lots of stair-masters, which are all things that are scarce in most gyms. Parents check in their children with a poker chip and in order to check them out they have to have that chip, so if you’re a parent, it’s an additional layer of peace of mind.

I recently joined Onelife for my health issues and concerns. I have never exercised seriously in my life. The gym is very organized with lots of equipment that I am learning about. I appreciate that there are sanitizers everywhere to keep the equipment and myself clean! The staff is very friendly and greet you as you come in. I have been training with a personal trainer to begin my journey and exercise consistently. Danyelle has been fantastic. She listens to me, answers my questions, and helps with concerns. She always checks on my condition from the previous sessions. She is friendly, makes me relaxed and my workouts are fun.
