East Potomac Pool, located at 972 Ohio Dr SW, Washington, DC, is a popular outdoor public swimming facility operated by the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR). Open primarily during the summer months, it features a main swimming pool and often a separate wading pool for children, providing a refreshing recreational space within East Potomac Park and serving as a family-friendly destination.
Specific pool temperatures for East Potomac Pool are not typically published as it is an outdoor public facility. Like most outdoor pools in the area, it is generally unheated, with water temperature largely dependent on ambient air temperature and sun exposure, warming naturally throughout the summer season.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The pool offers a generally nice environment and is considered a good, free escape from the city, particularly suitable for families. However, several issues impact the visitor experience. Common complaints include overcrowding, difficulty finding seating, and significant concerns about theft, with patrons advising caution due to 'light-fingered' individuals and staff being unhelpful regarding such incidents. Communication about opening hours is also a point of frustration, as the pool has been found closed despite online information, and calls often go unanswered. While one review specifically praised excellent service, the overall experience is notably affected by operational inconsistencies and security concerns.

Really nice pool. Great surroundings. The only drawback is that I've had a couple of things stolen from here. Both of them are really surprising things to have stolen. One was a Roku "skinsuit" I use for triathlons. The other was a pair of goggles. I suppose it was my fault for not locking them away properly. It just never occurred to me that people would steal such things, and so quickly. The staff at the pool weren't much help, or very sympathetic. On reflection, there is not a lot they can do, but at least *pretend* to care. The whole time I was treated as if I was an enormous burden on their time. In conclusion, this is a nice venue, and free, but the other patrons seem to very light-fingered. Watch your stuff!
Hard to find seating, and the pool itself can get very crowded, but it's nonetheless a nice escape from the city. There's a little cafeteria right next door, but you can't bring food in.
the pool opens after 11am on the weekdays I went there this past Tuesday after 11am and the pool was close the gate had a lock there wasn't a sign that say it was close nothing to remind us we were all lost wondering why since it say it was open online I called in today and no one answers I hope they fix the problem or at least remind us online or something.
A really good place for kids to have fun swimming and still have a picnic at Hains Point.
