What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for the YMCA are mixed. Positive feedback praises the facility as an outstanding community center with excellent amenities, friendly staff, and a wide range of programs, offering great value and fostering community. Conversely, significant negative feedback describes the facility as dirty, old, and in need of remodel, citing numerous pieces of outdated or broken equipment (including the jacuzzi/hot tub being out of order for extended periods), high temperatures in locker rooms, and general lack of maintenance. One review details a concerning experience with inconsistent rule enforcement at the water park, where a child of color was repeatedly corrected by a lifeguard while other children engaging in similar behaviors were reportedly ignored, raising concerns about fairness and potential discrimination. Other criticisms include the conversion of a racquetball court, limited Sunday hours, and questions regarding the allocation of membership fees.

I recently took my 2-year-old grandchild to the water park at the YMCA, and unfortunately, we had an upsetting experience with a young lifeguard on duty. My grandchild went down the frog slide the wrong way. As expected, the lifeguard came over to correct the behavior. I acknowledged the concern, explained the correct way to use the slide, and helped my grandchild understand. Shortly afterward, my grandchild went over to play near the turtle in the water. The same lifeguard approached us again and told us that children were not allowed to play with the animals in the pool area. I asked politely if this rule applied to all children, as many others appeared to be playing freely with the water features. Rather than answering, the lifeguard abruptly walked away. Later, I spoke with the supervisor and explained that I had simply been trying to understand the rules, as the interaction with the lifeguard had been dismissive and unclear. What concerns me most is that while my grandchild — a child of color — was corrected repeatedly, I did not observe other children being stopped from engaging in the same behaviors. This raises serious concerns about the fairness and consistency of how rules are being enforced. I hope this can be addressed to ensure all children are treated equally and respectfully at the facility.
The Massad Family YMCA is an outstanding community center that truly lives up to its mission of promoting health, wellness, and togetherness. The facility is clean, well-maintained, and equipped with excellent amenities — from a modern fitness center and swimming pools to sports courts and family-friendly areas. The staff is always friendly, welcoming, and ready to help, making every visit a positive experience. They offer a wide range of programs for all ages, including fitness classes, youth sports, and community events, ensuring there’s something for everyone. It’s more than just a gym — it’s a place where friendships are made, goals are achieved, and the community comes together. Highly recommended!
I have been a YMCA member since 1972. I have requested, suggested, advised those in charge for 3 years since I moved here; the FACILITY is dirty, old, in need of a remodel and definitely has been run into the ground by those "in charge". Dirty gym floors, broken jacuzzi (for over a year) Men's Locker room at 90' for 3 weeks now, work out benches split, weights 30 years old... WHERE is OUR $$$ going? BRING IN A DOGE GROUP NOW~~!
This Y is amazing!! Amazing value any way you look at it, seriously. Get in here
I honestly hate this place, but keep my membership because it’s closest to me and I never have to fight traffic getting there. The majority of the equipment is outdated and usually at least four or five machines have out of order signs on them. There used to be a decent sized group of guys that played racquetball at nights during the week until they decided to permanently turn one of 2 courts into a spin studio. It’s also pretty shitty that they close 3 hours earlier on sundays than all the other gyms in the region. The hot tub in the men’s locker room have been “awaiting scheduling for repairs” for at least the last 6 months. The next time they raise the price again I’m dropping my membership.
