Family-friendly, budget-friendly water park with slides and swimming pools, plus seating.
Specific pool temperatures for Waterworks Waterpark are not publicly listed on their official sources. However, as an outdoor public waterpark primarily operating during the summer months in Virginia, the water is generally maintained at a comfortable and enjoyable temperature for swimming and recreational activities.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The water park elicits mixed feedback from visitors. Many appreciate its family-centric atmosphere, diverse water activities, slides, splash pads, and obstacle courses, making it suitable for all ages. Positive remarks often highlight the overall cleanliness, well-maintained facilities, landscaping, and functional water features, especially during less crowded periods. Some lifeguards are described as pleasant and approachable. However, significant criticisms revolve around severe crowding during regular hours, which makes it challenging to keep track of children and navigate narrow pathways. More serious concerns involve staff professionalism and integrity, with multiple accounts of disrespectful lifeguards and supervisors, distracted behavior while on duty (posing safety risks to children), and even an incident of an employee stealing a guest's expensive sunglasses. Minor issues like moldy-smelling bathrooms and limited on-site parking are also mentioned.

Great place for the kids. Family centric. Easy to navigate. There’s things for all ages to do. Easy to “lose” kids here though. I’ve been here before, and it’s always SUPER crowded. This time, we had the opportunity to go to a private event here after hours. It was so nice to be able to enjoy things without people on top of you or pushing to get in to the features or teens running over little kids at the splash pad. One thing I noticed was that, even though the facility was only closed for cleaning for a half hour between the regular day and our event; it was remarkably clean and organized. All the chairs were placed accordingly, all trash was picked up and receptacles were all empty. The deck wasn’t covered in old gum, the chairs weren’t all busted up, and the facilities are in good repair. The landscaping is in excellent condition and it’s obvious they take care of it; and all the features of the water park actually worked! The features are all also in good repair, with all buckets turning and the lily pads are all intact with no holes or wear. Bathrooms are in ok shape although they smelled moldy and a bit like old sewage. Although I didn’t really interact with anyone one-on-one, the customer service seems evident with all the lifeguards being pleasant and approachable. Always nodding and smiling when you walk by, they aren’t over the top when it comes to correcting kids, and still maintain a safe environment. There is seemingly limited parking compared to capacity, but there’s extra parking right around the corner-with about a 1/4 mile walk to the door. Does have handicap access. One thing that stands out to me though, is the ability to “lose” your kid in the crowd. Being so overstimulated with all there is to do there, my kid kept bolting. Even with the limited number of guests that we had there, I still found it difficult to keep track of him. The pathways are pretty narrow and deck space is limited which added to the difficulty. Having four kids there at once of different ages, they were all over the park and difficult to wrangle.
If a zero star review were possible, that’s what I would give this establishment. The unprofessionalism of the lifeguards was exceptional to me, but more so the lack of decorum shown from who were supposed to be the supervisors was astonishing. Both supervisors looked like young teenagers, and they were extremely disrespectful and put the children in the water, including my 4 year old grandson, at risk by talking to the lifeguards while they were supposed to be ensuring the safety of the children. When I went to one of the supervisors to ask that they make sure the lifeguards aren’t distracted and do their job diligently, he brushed me off very rudely and said that “my kids would be okay” and that it “was not that deep” whatever that means? I visited over Labor Day weekend and wanted to reserve my thoughts, but after seeing another review about one of the other lifeguards stealing a near $300 pair of sunglasses? The professional standards this park holds its employees to is absolutely unacceptable. I sincerely hope there is change in the future, but I would not recommend this place if you value the respect and integrity.
Great place to enjoy water activities! The pool has two fun water slides and an area with obstacles to cross it. The splash park is really good with two small slides, which are awesome for smaller kids. The common areas are clean, and they have the necessary things to enjoy during a sunny day.
Celebrating my great-niece Sariyah 3rd and 4th Birthday party 🎉🥳.... the kids absolutely love it. If she's happy, I'm happy 😊. The facilities look clean and well taken care of... always a plus for me.
If I could give zero stars, I would!!! I normally would not write a review but I wanted to let people know they need to secure their valuables because there are some thieves that work there. I brought my daughter and her friends to a birthday party at Waterworks Waterpark and she took her sunglasses off and left them at the pavilion to go swimming and when she returned the sunglasses were missing. She asked the lifeguard that was standing by the pavilion did anyone come over and pick up her sunglasses and he walked her over to the lost and found to check. When my daughter left the park and he was telling the other lifeguards and concession workers that he took the sunglasses not knowing one of the workers is a family friend. When we got the phone call the same lifeguard had them, my wife and I drove back to the waterpark. The same lifeguard that walked my daughter to the lost and found was wearing the sunglasses. When I approached him he took them off and said he found them. He literally was wearing the sunglasses that he said he didn’t know what happened to them. If the sunglasses were cheap, I wouldn’t care but they were a pair of $275 sunglasses that a lifeguard on their staff tried to take and lie about not having them. There is no telling how many times this has happened to other guests when you have dishonest staff and lifeguards who lack integrity on your team. It’s a shame one person can ruin it for the whole waterpark but several of the other workers knew he took them and didn’t say anything. I definitely would not recommend this place because of this one incident. We live in a place where people work hard for their things and someone thinks they can just take the things people work for. Glad we got the glasses back and we didn’t press charges!
