What are people saying (AI review summary)? Big Blue Swim School garners significant praise for its friendly, patient, and knowledgeable instructors who help children gain comfort and confidence in the water. Many reviewers highlight the helpfulness and flexibility of the front-desk staff, especially in accommodating make-up classes. Facilities are generally described as clean and welcoming. However, one detailed review expressed considerable disappointment, citing inconsistent progress tracking, a curriculum that may not adequately prepare children for deeper water, and a lack of clear feedback on student improvement. This review also noted billing discrepancies and a loss of trust, suggesting a potential focus on revenue over learning outcomes. Despite these criticisms, initial experiences and trial lessons are often positive, with staff providing detailed information and guidance.

My 14 month old started when she was about 8 months old, and she loves her lessons with Jasmine! We notice her being comfortable in the water and happy to do all the new things Jasmine shows her. The instructors are patient and the staff is very flexible. We were so worried because we missed a lot of classes and thought we wouldn’t be able to make them up, but the staff worked with our schedule and allowed us ways to use up our makeup classes. The system doesn’t always allow it, but if you reach out to the staff directly and explain the circumstances they are so helpful and understanding, and willing to assist so that your child gets the most out of the classes!
Outstanding Swim School! Big Blue Swim School deserves every one of these 5 stars! The entire team—from the friendly and helpful front desk staff to the amazing instructors in the pool—goes above and beyond. The instructors are not only knowledgeable, but they also take their job seriously and truly care about each child's progress and safety. My child has grown so much in confidence and skill thanks to their guidance. You can tell they’re passionate about what they do. Highly recommend this place to any parent looking for a top-notch swim program!
My daughter and son have been attending Big Blue for over three years (two years at Franconia location), but this year has been extremely disappointing. After 22 weeks of classes, my daughter had only received 2 out of 6 stars at her level, despite the fact that I see her doing well during class. My son had been stuck with 2 stars after 18 weeks of classes at a lower level. I raised concerns with two different supervisors over the span of two weeks and was told they would monitor their progress more closely—but nothing changed. When I followed up again, the staff finally admitted they had not been keeping track as they should. Today, suddenly, my son jumped from 2 stars to completing his level in a single day, and I was told my daughter also now had 4 stars instead of 2. What’s even more concerning is that I was shocked to learn—at our community pool—that my daughter was not confident swimming in 5 feet of water. After years of lessons, this was deeply surprising. When I asked the Big Blue staff about it, I was told they don’t teach that specific skill and that their focus is on “distance swimming.” How is a child expected to swim any distance confidently if they’re not comfortable in deeper water? Throughout this experience, no one was giving my kids clear feedback on what they needed to improve to make progress, and their progress wasn’t being tracked unless I stepped in. It seems like the real priority is to keep families paying for lessons rather than ensuring the kids are truly learning. To top it off, I also discovered that I had been charged different rates for some of the same classes without any explanation or notice. Big Blue used to feel like a place where my kids could grow and build confidence in the water, but after this experience, I no longer trust their system.
The instructor Juan is well experienced teaching kids. Pretty much friendly and making kids comfortable. My daughter loves her trial lesson. I love the way they gave the kids' progress right away.
Our first visit was good. Maria was friendly and willing to give us a tour and showed us the facility of this location. She was very in detail and answered our questions nicely with smiles. The facility look clean and has open space. We took a trial swimming class here today as well. It went fine. They have swimming instructions for us to follow at the pool area where our baby was practicing. We just had to take time to read. The coach did show us how to do it and follow up after. She took time for each kid and discuss about the Big Blue Swim School program and told us how to improve our baby swimming skill. Overall, this swimming school is fine to start.
