Relaxed neighborhood pool featuring a slide and splash areas, as well as a shallow entry for little ones.
As an outdoor public facility, the William R. Diggs Memorial Swimming Pool's temperature is not typically heated or explicitly stated. Its temperature is generally influenced by natural environmental conditions during its operational summer season, rather than being maintained at a specific heated degree.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? This pool is generally seen as a good, accessible option for younger children and families, offering features like a slide, toddler section, and splash areas. It's often described as a more low-key and less crowded alternative to the Baker Park pool, with friendly and helpful staff frequently mentioned. However, there are several notable drawbacks: the pool is small and can reach capacity quickly, and parking is limited and challenging due to its downtown location, which also has a 'sketchy' surrounding park area. The facility is older, particularly the bathrooms, and the water is often cold. Patrons frequently mention the strict rules, including mandatory 15-minute breaks for children every hour and restrictive adult swim periods that limit parent interaction with kids, which some find frustrating. One review noted rude staff and excessive rules, while others praised staff friendliness. Water shoes are recommended for toddlers due to potential minor cuts.
Reviews
The accessibly of the pool is great. The pool is a bit small, but it gets the job done. Nice location and friendly staff. They sell snacks starting at $1. It is downtown, so parking can be a hit or miss.
Nice pool and very nice staff members. The two things that I didn't really like were, that all kids have to take 15 min break, out of the pool, every period. And the other things my 2 years old got a little cut in his toe. It wasn't a big deal but you may want to bring water shoes for your toddler. But other than that. It is a good pool and fun activity for kids younger than 12. By the way thank you to the lifeguard that helped my with my kid. I didn't get her name. And the cashier that he is very nice.
The only good part of this pool is the slide for kids. But it’s awful, during adult swim kids are not allowed to put their toes in or sit on the side. You can’t swim in the square with your child if they go down the slide, you can’t go down the stairs that are on the sides of the pool. There are so many rules you can’t do. Don’t waste your money here. If you’re an adult it’s fine but staff are rude. For kids the other pool by baker park is more suitable.
Much more low key than the pool by Baker Park. Mostly families and smaller kids. It's smaller, so it fills to capacity quickly and the parking situation is less than ideal, but still great.
Nice smaller pool with shade trees and slide great for younger kids toddler section and a swim lane fountain splash area and bucket water dump. Always had friendly staff. It is an old facility so bathroom shower area a bit old. Also the water tends to be very cold but the kids don't seem to mind. Parking is very limited and surrounding park is sketchy at times but is better than in years past it is near downtown so there is a homeless element that hangs about but the pool doesn't reflect that mostly young families. There is a small picnic area in the pool enclosure so that could be nice to have lunch or snacks. There is a 15 minute adult only period every hour which is a nuisance to the kids there are usually no adults in at this time but I only go in the least crowded times many times we are the only ones there.we live close and get a summer family pass so when Cousins visit we can all go. Never have experience fighting or problems that I have seem at the Baker Park pool so for young families this is a great choice in my opinion.
