Wichita Swim Club, located at 8323 E Douglas Ave, Wichita, KS, is a prominent competitive swimming club and swim school. It offers comprehensive year-round programs for all ages and skill levels, from beginner swim lessons to high-performance competitive training for USA Swimming events. The facility typically features multiple pools, including an Olympic-size 50-meter pool, and is known for its experienced coaching staff dedicated to swimmer development.
Specific pool temperatures for the Wichita Swim Club are not publicly listed on their primary website or readily available public information. Competitive swimming pools, such as those at WSC, are generally maintained within a range suitable for rigorous training and competition, often between 78-82°F (25.5-27.8°C), which is typically cooler than recreational or therapy pools to optimize athletic performance and comfort during intense activity.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The swimming club receives mixed reviews, particularly concerning its instructors and administrative policies. Experienced, older instructors are consistently praised for their knowledge, engaging teaching style, and effectiveness in helping children improve. However, some younger, less experienced staff, especially during summer months, are noted to struggle with child management, leading to class disruptions. The facility offers good options for swimming lessons and is described as a nice, well-maintained (though somewhat old) 50x25 yard pool suitable for lap swimming. Significant issues were raised regarding pricing, specifically charging full price for fewer classes in September due to holidays without prorating or offering make-up classes, along with an additional online payment fee. Additionally, there were complaints about poor communication and customer service, including a case where a customer paid for lessons but could not get scheduled or receive assistance, ultimately requesting a refund.

I have tried 2 instructors and the older ones seem more experience to keep the children engage and focus. Some of the younger staff seems to not have experience managing children, because they are very young (summer months), when the club hires maybe too young instructors to manage the demand of summer months! For my kids class, the young lady could not keep a kid engage and was disrupting class and having the other kids distracted. It was frustrating because the parents for the kid ignore the behavior that affected the other kids in the class and the instructor seemed out of her depth managing that kid. But the older lady is very knowledgeable and teaches amazing. Now I have an issue with September classes, the club offers twice per week classes for 4 weeks for 100 dollars plus the extra $5 they charge you to pay online? Since September 1 is Labor Day and is close, classes start until 9/3 to 9/25 that is 7 classes and the fee is 100 dollars, not 87.50 for missing one class? I reached out to the swimming School and I Nicolette emailed me saying that for 7-9 classes is 100 dollars? Does that seem like an answer to dismiss my question about the fee? YEs! They never go 9 classes, they do 4 weeks/2 times per week and if there is a fifth week the classes for the following month start being billed. I do not like that for each child they will overcharge 12.50, I have not been invited to a free anything there! There is always a fee, so do the right thing and if you will be charging the 100 dollars offer a make up class for Labor Day. It is only fair and good business.
Great options for swimming lessons. You can choose level, group or individual, and how many days a week you want to sign up for. Great instructors and space. My son has shown great improvement since starting his lessons!
Nice facility if you are visiting Wichita and want to swim laps for training or exercise. 50 x 25 Yard (not metres if you are from outside USA!) pool. A bit old, but in good condition. Not busy during weekday working hours when I was there and people I met there were friendly and helpful.
We paid $105 for swim lessons. Last year was full and we were instructed to wait till this year and we can apply the payment towards that. We have not been able to get scheduled, or have someone reach out to help us after sending emails. We would like our money back and we will be going elsewhere.
My son learned so much in his 2 weeks taking lessons here. The teachers are great and really do care.
