The Central Community Branch YMCA, located at 766 Main St, Worcester, MA, is a vital community center offering a wide range of programs and facilities for all ages. It features a modern Wellness Center, a full-size gymnasium, group exercise studios, and a heated indoor pool, all aimed at promoting health, well-being, and community engagement.
The Central Community Branch YMCA has a heated indoor pool. While the precise daily temperature is not typically published, YMCA pools for general use (lap swimming, family swim, water exercise) are usually maintained at a comfortable swimming temperature, often in the range of 82-84°F (28-29°C).
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The YMCA receives mixed reviews, highlighting both strong positive aspects and significant areas for improvement. Many members praise the gym for its excellent classes, especially early morning ones, and its historic swimming pool. The wellness center is also well-regarded, with friendly and helpful staff members like Molly receiving specific mentions. Conversely, several negative experiences are reported, including an incident of theft where management reportedly blamed the victim and failed to take responsibility. The summer camp program is criticized for being disappointing for younger children (under 7), who are primarily kept indoors with limited activities. Furthermore, there are serious complaints about persistent billing errors and the difficulty of reaching higher management to resolve issues and obtain refunds.

Love this gym, have been a member for years. Great classes, especially early morning ones. Swimming pool is historic with Houdini's famous experiments done at this YMCA pool!
Started going to the gym with Genesis Clubhouse, great way to get in shape and workout,
My son's headphones were stolen outside of his bag. His gym bag that he is not allowed to bring inside of the gym for "safety concerns." I told them I know they are gone but I want someone held responsible. I was basically told by Cox it's my son's fault for not having a lock but this does not excuse the fact that she has someone in her facility that is pick pocketing people's bag. Very disappointed in her and "HER MEMBERS"
The summer camp is a let down. If your child is 7 or older they get to enjoy the actual summer camp experience by going to the day camp grounds. But be prepared to know if they're not 7 or over they will be stuck in a brick building all summer alternating between 2-3 rooms. Oh they let them swim every day. That's all you're getting for your $225 a week. I have also been getting $96 taken out of my account for 4 months and we have not used the Y once. I've asked for a refund numerous times. Trying to speak to any higher management is impossible. My kids need summer and school clothes and that money should be returned.
My experience at the YMCA has been excellent so far. I've mainly used the wellness center, which has been great. The staff is very friendly, and I want to give a special mention to Molly, who has been particularly helpful.
