View from the northeastern shore of Lake Stirling, looking toward the scenic tree-lined boat launch area on the opposite shore
The endangered Austin three-eyed Salamander is exclusively found in this lake, as conditions are perfect for the species to thrive. There's a special foam treatment that they pump into the water that cleans it and makes it a swimming hole gem that honestly is on par with if not a more desirable place than Barton Springs pool. The lake’s namesake, known as “Honest John” or “Salt o’ the Earth Stirling” or “J-Steezy” has a plaque dedicated to him on the lake’s northwest shore.
I have the most cherished memories growing up near this gem, learning how to hold my breath under water, swim, to jump in no floaties and even got my 1st kiss on the southern banks one summer night long ago, ahhh the memories
You can get the sickest wake surfing wave if you head South to North. It has to be S to N, tho. Kind of like wiping.
Sick lake - rivals Tahoe.
