Family venue featuring a lap-swim pool, plus slides and a kid-friendly waterpark.
The main 8-lane, 25-yard competition pool at the Lakeway Swim Center is heated year-round to a temperature between 80-82 degrees Fahrenheit. The children's play area/wading pool is also heated.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for the Lakeway Swim Center are mixed, but predominantly negative, largely due to recent policy changes. Positive aspects frequently mentioned include clean pools, a heated lap pool, a large pool with splash pads and slides, and generally friendly and sweet staff. Specific events like summer movie nights with complimentary popcorn were also highlighted as positive experiences. However, significant dissatisfaction stems from a new 'no outside food or drink' policy, which is criticized for forcing families to purchase overpriced snacks and negatively impacting families with small children and those on budgets. The new 7 PM closing time is a major dealbreaker for working families, as it drastically reduces usable swim time. Many members expressed frustration over not being informed of these policy changes when purchasing their memberships. Other concerns include inconsistent lifeguard enforcement of slide policies, perceived unprofessionalism or rudeness from some lifeguards, inappropriate stories shared by a snack bar manager, and poor quality hot dogs from the concession stand. Reviewers note that these changes have made the center feel 'anti-family' and less accessible, with some observing empty pools during what used to be peak hours, leading to calls for management to roll back these policies.

I used to love this place, but something has really changed this year. It started with the new "no outside food" rule, which wouldn’t be so bad if the snack bar weren’t overpriced and managed by someone who regularly overshares inappropriate stories right in front of kids. The lifeguards have also been surprisingly unprofessional and rude to me and other families as well as openly complaining about the kid camps in front of the children and counselors. On top of that, the slide policy is enforced differently by every guard, which just adds to the confusion and frustration for both kids and parents. Sadly, even with the lower price point, it's no longer worth it. Our family experience has been disappointing nearly every time we’ve visited this summer.
I love this pool so much, the pool is mostly clean and they staff are very friendly. The concession stand is very good except for the HOT DOGS... Trust me they are not hotdogs.
Very sweet staff and life guards. Heated lap pool open certain times over the week. Another huge pool with splash pads and slides. Lakeway Residents have a certain entry/membership fee and non residents is a little more expensive. Clean and well taken care of!
100% agree with recent reviews. The Lakeway Swim Center has become a disappointment. The staff are still great, but the 2025 summer hours and new restrictions on outside food/drink have transformed this from a family favorite into an awful choice. I purchased a family summer membership at the start of the season without being informed of these changes - no email, no warning at signup, nothing. Had I known, I would have saved my money. The new 7 pm closing time is a dealbreaker for working families. By the time I get home and get the kids ready, we're lucky to get 15 minutes in the pool before staff starts blowing whistles for everyone to get out. We used to count on those evening swims after dinner. The outside food ban hits families with small kids especially hard. No more healthy snacks from home or hydrating drinks means my toddlers melt down halfway through what should be a fun outing. Instead - we're forced to buy overpriced snacks from the concession stand or leave early when the kids get hangry. This isn't about inconvenience; it's about accessibility. These changes effectively exclude working parents and families on budgets from using a community resource we've already paid for. Your members are voting with their feet, and the empty pool at 6:30 pm should tell you everything. The ask for management: rollback these anti-family changes.
Lakeway Swim Center’s summer movie nights was such a great bonding experience for my boys and me. The boys loved watching How to Train Your Dragon while swimming and making new friends. Everybody was so friendly. The best part, at least according to my boys, was the “best popcorn ever!” (also complimentary) which came with butter AND M&Ms!
