What are people saying (AI review summary)? This is a free, small neighborhood pool, often busy with families, especially in the afternoons. The 20-yard lap pool is shallow (2-5 feet deep), clean, and well-maintained, though it lacks shade. There's a separate, shaded wading pool for children with shorter operating hours. While generally appreciated by the community, common complaints include strong jets in the main pool, occasional non-working showers, and significant issues with unreliable opening hours, unexpected closures, and finding the pool drained without prior notice.

A free pool is an amazing amenity to have in a neighborhood. I want this place to thrive for years to come. 20 yard lap pool that is pretty shallow (from 3 to 5 feet), but it’s well maintained and clean. There is pretty much no shade for the lap pool at any given moment, but the wading pool for kids does have a shade structure. I definitely recommend wearing and bringing plenty of sun protection. My nitpicks: the shower to rinse off wasn’t working when I was there (June 2024), and the jets in the pool were so strong that it felt like I was fighting against them in the water…which might have made my swim a better workout. Overall, a great pool that serves its community well!
SUMMARY: Small, FREE neighborhood pool with a baby pool (shorter hours -see below). Mostly families go there, few teenagers and young adults. F I felt obligated to do a review considering that the last person didn’t even get in the pool. I’ve been going to this pool since I was a little kid as it’s right in my neighborhood. It’s a small pool for sure. It has one lap lane and goes from 2 to 5 feet deep. There is also a baby pool, BUT I believe that it only opens at 11AM whereas the big pool opens earlier. Patterson Pool gets busy in the afternoon, the neighborhood hotspot for families. At other times, it’s very empty. I’ve only once had to wait one time to swim laps. Great for a leisurely soak! If you’re trying to go to a “hip” pool with teenagers and young adults, go to Deep Eddy, or even better, Barton Springs.
Maybe a great pool if it had water in it
Good pool for an early morning swimmer but isn’t a good pool for anyone with a schedule they have to stick to. Sometimes they open on time, sometimes they just won’t open at all with no sign or notice. Calling is a waste of time. Was told they only close Wednesday and are open 8-8 but here I am again at 8:30am on a Monday and nothing. But hey it’s free, you get what you pay for.
It does exist. But I am here, checked the website and it says they are open. Called, the phone rang, no one picked up, no message machine. The pool is drained. This information needs to be somewhere, I looked in the two places it should be. Disappointing.
