I came here for beginner adult swim lessons as someone who did not know swimming at all and I highly recommend. Especially if you're afraid of water or deep water, I think it's really nice that they slowly bring up your confidence and build skills over each other. The pace is slow, which I think is important starting off. You need to just get used to being in water and not scared. They also go over treading and things that are essential for survival in water. The 12ft side of the pool is really helpful for overcoming deep water. They are attentive and the classes are small, so you feel like you're getting good tutoring. Definitely recommend to anyone who is new to swimming!
I took Adult swim lessons here, and it was a great experience. The instructor, Mariah, was very helpful, and it went a long way to feeling comfortable in the water.
Took adult swim lessons here in 2019 with Shay and she was absolutely fantastic. It's not an easy feat as an adult to swallow your pride and be taught to swim by a teacher that's getting ready to go to prom but Shay made the experience very comfortable. I think most adults who take swim lessons are generally afraid of water but I felt very safe with Shay. The staff was pretty friendly and I never had any issues with payment or scheduling.
Rave reviews for this school, which has boosted my twelve year old daughter from a terrified dog paddler who was scared to put her head in the water and had to start with blowing bubbles, to a confident, safe swimmer who is working on freestyle and backstroke now. Callie is the best! Edited to add: one reason we opted for private lessons at this school was because parks & rec lessons really, really didn't cut it for either of our kids. Our girls were both a bit shy, and they just seemed to end up clinging to the side of the pool all the time, shielding their eyes while other kids splashed around. They needed a little bit of a smaller, quieter environment in which to learn. With our older daughter, we had put in the time when she was younger and made sure she had effective swimming lessons, but our second child had somehow slipped through the cracks and was actively unsafe: she felt panicky in water over her head, and really avoided putting her face in at all. I couldn't coax her along, and was really scared that if she ever fell into a pool or any other body of water, she would freak out -- and also that she would not grow up to enjoy all that swimming can offer. So it was with total amazement that I watched Callie (a) teach her how to safely exit the pool without using a ladder or stairs and then (b) convince her to jump straight into the deep end by the end of her first lesson. Safe to say, that had NEVER happened before! She's just gotten stronger since then, and we are so pleased and relieved! As to a few other comments about heat/chlorine in the pool area -- I suspect that's to be expected given a small indoor pool that's heated to be comfy for swimmers (so they don't have to get into a cold pool). I've really appreciated that the water's warm, that it isn't too loud in there, and that parents can observe lessons from so close!
I’ve been trying to get my 5 year old into swim lessons since she was 3, but because of the pandemic and everyone wanting lessons now, it was so difficult. My daughter ended up doing a week long summer session at the Swim School of Austin a few weeks ago. It was supposed to be a group lesson, but she was the only one. The teachers were wonderful and not only made me feel more comfortable and safe in the water but also helped her with her anxiety around sticking her head in the water. She’s a more confident swimmer, and it was an overall great experience! Thanks Swim School!
