What are people saying (AI review summary)? The BCRP pools are appreciated by some users for community programming, exercise opportunities, and helpful staff, with Callowhill specifically noted for lap swimming. However, the overall sentiment is mixed to negative due to significant operational and maintenance issues. Common complaints include frequent and unannounced closures, late openings, and administrative problems leading to unreturned deposits and difficulties reaching staff by phone. Facilities are often described as old, in need of renovation, and plagued by issues like roaches, unheated pools, and broken equipment. Furthermore, there's considerable dissatisfaction regarding significant price increases for pool rentals, with patrons questioning the use of tax dollars given the existing problems and occasional reports of rude lifeguards.

Love the BCRP pools - they welcome community groups host programming. I go for lap swimming, water ballet, and water polo! It's not a fancy facility but it's a public service and the guards are nice. Callowhill is the best of the pools for lap swimming with the big deep end and starting blocks.
Rented this location for a pool party for my daughters Sweet 16 on July 13 and I still haven't received my deposit back. Still unable to get anyone on the phone a month later. They need a better process all around. The pool is old and needs a renovation and they have roaches. For the price they charge I wouldn't recommend it unless you are pressed for time which I was.
This pool was suppose to open at 12:30 and close at 2:30. It’s already 1 o'clock and no one is here to open. You'd think on such a short day they would at-least be on time. The only reason why im even giving it a 2 star rating is because Ive enjoyed myself here before when responsible people were here to open the pool. Management should seriously rethink the people they have hired. Not to mention the number left only works occasionally.
I was going to the Aquatic Center daily until March when covid-19 hit. Now, it's back open and I can again get some of this pandemic weight off me. It's a great place to exercise and swim. Update: closed again. They appear to have some administrative problems keeping the Pool opened. Hopefully they can remedy this problem soon. I and others would love to go swimming again. Tax dollars not being used effectively. Come on, Department of Rec and Services get on your job. Update 2: Pool is now open again. Staff Is very helpful and I can continue with my exercise program.
I made a call to rent the pool for my daughter which is turning 12. The cost is usually about 300. Now it's 750 for a child party. It's a city pool, that is ridiculous. I worked everyday in the city and I live in the city, which means I paying baltimore city taxes. I've talked to the manager the price was increase because of the employees salary. That's a city building which means they are city employees. What are my taxes going to. I call the mayor no response. We need to stop the double up the cost. It's a city pool. Plus the pool was not heat and the lifeguards was rude, table are always broken.
