What are people saying (AI review summary)? Overall, British Swim School receives predominantly positive feedback, with many praising the professionalism, patience, and effectiveness of instructors like Derek, who are lauded for making lessons fun and teaching various age groups, from young children to adults, to swim and float quickly. Customers frequently report rapid progress, with one 5-year-old learning to swim in just a month, and some prefer it over competitors like Goldfish and Foss. Additional benefits such as free swim deals and occasional upgrades to private lessons are also appreciated. However, one very negative experience at the Plainfield LA Fitness location cited significant disorganization, lack of staff, unsuitable class pairings, and conflicting information regarding parent participation, leading to a trial class being abandoned due to unprofessionalism.

We had signed up for a free trial class for my 11 month old at the LA Fitness location in Plainfield and we were very disappointed. First off there is no one from British Swim School at the front desk to greet you. Then we get to the pool area and there is another swimmer in the class which that swimmer is clearly older than my child. Which I don't see how they would be compatible in the same class. When I called to see if we can do a trail class to see if it was a good fit I was advised that because of my son's age, a parent would have to go in the water with my son. When we got there, the instructor told my husband he couldn't go in the water and my son had to sit on the edge of the pool, we ended up leaving and not doing the class. This felt very disorganized and unprofessional.
We signed our two kids up for swim lessons a month ago and we cannot give enough praise to their instructor, Derek. He is EXCELLENT with them. He is incredibly patient with them- especially our mostly scared, never had swim lessons before, 3 year old. He makes it fun and he genuinely seems to enjoy his job. He is teaching them how to actually survive in water while making it a fun experience for them. We could not be happier with this program so far. We would absolutely recommend.
When I searched for a swimming school, I was looking between Foss and British. And I’m glad that my boy( he is 5yo) chose British. In just a month he learned to swim and he’s having so much fun. Goldfish was out of the table, we went there when he was smaller for almost a year, but had no results. And as a bonus, they have these deals where kids can swim free for a month, couple times per year. Not mentioning that we pay for group classes, but instead we get private classes most of the time. Can’t be more happier with this choice.
we had two young lady instructors and they was very professional and knew exactly how to help us. I have never learned to swim but now I'm able to float and ready to swim. Thank you British Swim
Awesome! Great experience and they have learned a lot and really enjoyed it !
