What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for this facility present a mixed picture. Positive feedback highlights the exceptional kindness and helpfulness of specific staff members like Isaiah and Kindra, with others generally described as friendly. Patrons also noted good etiquette among other gym users and some equipment being nice. However, significant negative points include numerous complaints about outdated equipment, amenities (particularly the sauna) frequently being out of order, and a substantial price hike in early 2024 that members feel has made the facility overpriced and alienated younger clientele. A serious concern was raised regarding an uncomfortable encounter with a harassing member and subsequent poor staff handling, leading to a long-time member feeling unsafe and uncomfortable.

I have been coming to the Y for 10 years on and off. Never have I had an issue with feeling uncomfortable. Today I was approached by a 65 year old man and he asked to use the machine I answered his question cordially and he then told me he was watching me and to hurry up on the machine. He followed me downstairs because I was going to make a complaint about him. Turns out the staff know him by his name and is a frequent person who complains about other people upstairs working out. This situation has no solution and until me and my husband walk away and this man “John” continued to argue. The staff handled this poorly and I no longer feel comfortable at this location.
This facility is outdated and overpriced. Every piece of workout equipment is a decade old and many of the amenities are often out of order. They doubled the rates in early 2024 which led to many people going to other gyms that provide a better value. The only lucrative feature of this gym is the basketball courts that are available 60% of the time. Disappointed in the price hike. In regret signing a petition to keep that place instead of the apartments that developers wanted. This place is pretty much a senior center . $25 day pass is kind of extreme for what this business is supposed to represent. I was a member at the Y for over 5 years and hate they priced out their younger clientele.
Isaiah was such a wonderrful and kind to me in my need for assistance as a legLLY BLIND RETIRED VETERAN/ I DRPPED MY INHALER AND MY PHONE WAS ON 1% AND IM 8.3 MILES AWAY FROM MY CAR AND HOME.hE WAS VERY HELPING AND IM SO GRATEFUL FOR HIS CUSTOMER SERVICE AND HELPING HAND WITH KINDNESS AND CARE.
My partner and I came here while looking for an apartment in Durham. The staff were so friendly, especially Kindra, who gave us a tour of the facility. Equipment is nice and other gym patrons had good etiquette.
Friendly staff! The gym equipment works, but very dated. Sauna seemingly always out of order. Most disappointed about the sauna as that is all they offer that I’m interested in that sets them apart from other gyms like Planet Fitness. I think I’ll be switching since the amenities I pay for are not in order.
