About

Ample-laned facility featuring a lazy river, a lap pool and slides, plus a splash pad.

Specific, regularly published pool temperatures for the First Colony Aquatic Center are not readily available. However, as a community recreational facility, the pools are generally maintained at comfortable swimming temperatures, typically expected to be in the range of high 70s to low 80s Fahrenheit (approximately 25-29°C) during its operational season.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for the aquatic center are mixed, with several positive comments praising it as a great place for kids to cool off, offering a lazy river, water slides, splash pads, and ample seating. Many appreciate the ability to bring in food and drinks, and the general family-friendly atmosphere. However, there are significant negative experiences reported. Key concerns include highly unprofessional and unhelpful managers and lifeguards, with incidents of lifeguards playing carelessly in the water (damaging a phone, almost hitting children), neglecting duties, and violating rules. Restrooms were described as disgusting, lacking basic supplies, and trash was noted around the facility. Another major point of frustration is the complex and poorly communicated access policy for First Colony residents, requiring multiple, inconveniently obtained pool tags despite paying substantial HOA fees, which some find discriminatory and a barrier to entry.

This was our first visit. The pool was crowded, but the kids really enjoyed themselves. The people were friendly and it was easy signing.

BOTH of the managers I’ve spoken too ( Taylor and Bill ) were EXTREMELY unhelpful and unprofessional… my family, friends, and I, went there this past Sunday and I had the worst experience! Lifeguards who were ON the job, were tossing a football around carelessly and dangerously, in the water FULL of young kids! They almost hit my friend and did knock my other friend’s phone into the water!! His phone has water damage!!! All because the lifeguards wanted to play around carelessly and not do their jobs. What if that football they were throwing hit my almost 2 year old daughter that was in the water? What would have happened if I needed an ambulance called?? All because the staff here decided to unprofessionally swim/ hangout in the pool while they’re ON the job? I understand these lifeguards are teenagers but shouldn’t there be at least ONE ADULT on duty OR RESPONSIBLE teenager? Restrooms were also extremely disgusting I opted to change in my car because they were that filthy, no toilet paper!! I had to have a lifeguard bring some out after asking twice. There was also an accident on the pool that day, someone cut themselves (there was also trash all over the center, not in the water, just in chairs and on the ground). I’m sure the accident could have been prevented if the lifeguards were doing their job picking up trash that cut someone, but instead they were tossing a football in the water recklessly and going down the slides without a tube, which I thought was a rule?! They also closed the pool slide early that day at 7:45 PM. I talked to Taylor as soon as all of this happened because I was informed she was the lifeguard on duty when my friend’s phone got knocked into the water, and she was extremely unprofessional and had walked away when the incident occurred, even though she was fully aware it happened! when I asked who was manager above her, she said she was the only manager that day, she wouldn’t give me her supervisors name.. she didn’t resolve the issue whatsoever that day because her friends were the who one threw the football, and they were on the job so I’m assuming she didn’t want to get them in trouble. This is ridiculous that I have to go to the lengths to write such a bad review but when I finally got ahold of her supervisor the following day he was no help either. Upsetting because my friend is struggling with water damage on his phone all because lifeguards wanted to hangout and play while they’re ON THE JOB. I have never ever had this happen at any other pool! Safety is not a top priory at this aquatic center..

Very Frustrating Experience! I'm registered online for the Digital Pool Passes - Cell Badge and am a First Colony resident. I thought we were good to go. Showed up with my parents from out of town at noon on a Saturday to swim some laps on this 98 degree day as I'd done in years past. Sadly we were told we, as well as a random guy who was in a similar situation that we could not swim in the mostly empty pool unless we had a separate "Aquatics Center Access Card" pool tag for the lap pool which would cost $75 plus a $25 deposit. The most frustrating part is that when we asked to purchase the card from the "manager" at the adjacent kids pool area they informed us that he can not distribute a pool tag and that we need to go to the main office to get the tag during the week during "normal business hours". Unfortunately my wife and I work in Houston during the week and can't just drop in at our lunch break to get a tag. I pay over $800 per year in FCCSA fees and hardly ever use any of the facilities as we are so busy working during the week. So it's double annoying to have to pay twice and to have do deal with the bureaucratic hoops they've set up in an effort to limit access to their pools. The next irritating thing is that the three other neighborhood pools we could have accessed were all closed and don't open until 4pm so we ended going home. Went online to see where this policy is listed and it's not at all on their website. You need to open a separate pdf to find this detail. Frankly it's a senseless policy that is very poorly executed that limits access and is discriminatory to hard working dual income families and single people.

I take my kids here all the time!!!. Plenty of space, chairs, tables, chaise lounges, umbrellas, shade, and sun! Splash pad area for the infants, walkers, and toddlers. The whole area is 3' 6" and under. Fun size slide for the toddlers and bigger water slide for the older kids. You can bring in food, drinks and refreshments. Awesome place for get togethers, birthday pool party, or just a party in general. It's my go to place. They also have 15 minute safety brakes, to refresh sun screen, get the kids some shade or nourishment and re hydrate.
