Public swimming pool providing a family-friendly environment with lifeguards.
Specific daily or typical pool temperatures for Ad Astra Pool are not consistently published by the City of Lenexa. As a public outdoor pool, the water is generally maintained at a comfortable, seasonal temperature suitable for recreational use during the summer months.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? This pool generally garners positive reviews as a family-friendly option, with many visitors highlighting its convenience, uncrowded atmosphere, and ample space. The staff, particularly the lifeguards, are often praised as friendly, awesome, and unmatched, contributing to many positive experiences and lasting memories. However, there are significant criticisms regarding overly strict and inconsistent rules, especially concerning floaties, diving, and even carrying children, which has led to frustration and disappointment for some, particularly children. Other drawbacks include the closure of the baby pool due to paint chipping and a complaint about lawn chairs being placed too close together, hindering movement. While bathrooms are described as typical for public pools, they are not considered exceptional.

Nice pool, typically not too busy. However, the baby pool isn't open due to paint chipping. I had really looked forward to taking my baby there this year. I agree with another post, the bathrooms are not the best but, they seem typical of many public pools.
So, the lady at the front check-in window asked if this simple doughnut floatie was “coastguard approved”. Whatever that means. And it is! Anyway, so she let us bring it in…. In which case, I was immediately attacked by a young male lifeguard that told me that I couldn’t use this in the pool. It’s for my 8 year old little girl, and “that’s gonna break her heart”, I told him. And he said, “If I use it in the pool, a manager will yell at me to take it out anyway.” Isn’t the whole point of a giant outdoor pool, so you can use some fun beach toys in it? Like this one? This is a stupid, pointless rule. And it did break my little girls heart—She was so excited to use this. With the size of this gigantic pool, you’re telling me, you can’t rope off a small section of the pool and designate it for doughnut floaties and other floaties?! I will take my $15 bucks elsewhere and use it for a smaller, more private pool. Forget these stupid giant pools! They got like 20+ lifeguards—who cares about one little floatie! Also, they kept whistling at me when I put my daughter on my shoulders and walked around the middle of the 4’7” pool with her. Why??? Too many ridiculous rules here! Also, I tried to dive in at the deep end, near the diving boards, when nobody else was using the diving board, and nobody else was nearby, and they whistled at me then too, and said, “this is not a designated diving area!” So what?! It’s 13 feet deep and I’m not doing anybody harm! One more thing. They put all the lawn chairs sooo close together, my little girl couldn’t walk past them without bumping her toe and bloodying it up! Leave a walking path through the chairs, so we can get to the shade in the grass without injuring my little girl on a hard plastic chair! No walking path through the chairs anywhere; I had to make a path myself! Keep up all these stupid rules and you will continue to loose paying customers! Again, I might as well go to the indoor Rec center at Lenexa City Center, if you ain’t gonna have any new rules about floaties here! What’s the point of an outdoor pool if you can’t have outdoor pool fun??????
The BEST Lenexa pool hands down, The lifeguards are awesome completely unmatched. To be honest out of the Olathe and the Lenexa and the Shawnee pools this is the best most family friendly pool. These lifeguards deserve pat on the back for sure.
This pool has been our family's go to for summer for many years. It's close to home, the staff is always friendly, and we can always find room to hang out. We love this pool.
I've been in this pool ever since I moved here it has been the most wonderful experiences I've ever had in Ad Astra and I hopefully think that it brought so many memories to other people as well so this pool is awesome
