I am extremely disappointed and upset with this aquatic park. The staff members were unbelievably disrespectful and completely unprofessional. One of them inappropriately touched my child, then began cursing in front of families and continued behaving aggressively even after I expressed my concern. This is absolutely unacceptable, and no parent should ever feel that their child is unsafe at a place meant for family fun. I will never return and strongly urge other parents to think twice before bringing their kids here. Management needs to take immediate action to address their staff’s behavior. My experience at this pool was ruined. DO NOT COME HERE!!!
We love getting season passes here. Very family friendly and affordable. The food is decent. The kids absolutely love coming here. They have slides, lazy river, diving board(& high dive), climbing rock wall, compact pool, and a little kid splash area. They have swimming lessons available.
This is my favorite aquatic center to go to! They have a tube water slide you can go down with your littles (kids 48 inches and under). They are open later than most pools, too (8pm most days). It’s only $6 to get in if you’re a resident of Shawnee ($10 if you’re a non-resident). It’s half off after 6pm and always half off if your child is under 1 year old! Very clean pool and not too packed most of the time. Highly recommend.
Our experience at this pool was unfortunately not great. One of the life guards was very rude and unreasonable. She pushed my four year old son while he was standing on the outer side of the kid pool. He was not bothering anyone nor was he in immediate danger. It was very upsetting and when confronting her about it she said “I’m just doing my job” she admitted to pushing him with her knee. she never apologized for it either. All the other life guards who were at the kid pool were very attentive and would walk around the kids when they were in the way which was ALWAYS. Kids are kids and they are going to be running around everywhere. If she can’t work with kids then maybe this isn’t the job for her. It is the adults responsibility to have the maturity of working around them. My child was not being disruptive to her in any way. He did not deserve her pushing him. When reporting this incident to Elizabeth, the manager she didn’t do anything. An apology goes a long way but instead she took the lifeguards side. She said the life guard “didn’t mean it” whatever that means because she clearly pushed him on purpose. Elizabeth explained that my son was in her area and left it at that. When we asked to speak to her supervisor to escalate this incident she said she would not give us that information. She said she was the only manager which was a lie because we asked around and there was three managers not just her. She also refused to give us her name to report the incident ourselves but we ended up finding out either way. It just felt like there was no adult in charge in this situation. Elizabeth handled this very poorly and it was truly infuriating with it having to do with my son. At the end of the day no one should be putting their hands on a child especially pushing them out of the way so Elizabeth, SHAME ON YOU for not protecting children and instead protecting your very entitled coworker.
Disturbing Experience at Thomas A. Soetaert Aquatic Center I am deeply troubled by what I witnessed at Pool. During my visit on 08/08/25, I observed a situation involving a child ( my nephew) that was shocking and unacceptable. A staff member put her hands on my nephew and moved him out the perimeter of where the lifeguard was walking. The mother of the child said “excuse me” and the lifeguard disregarded what she did and said she was doing her job. I then proceeded to bring the manager because the lifeguard had been being rude the whole time. As the manager talked to her employee, she then came up to us and said that her lifeguard did nothing wrong, but push the little boy with her knee and that she was looking out for all the other children. I then proceeded to ask Elizabeth the manager if I could speak to someone else because that was unacceptable and you never put your hands on a child She then told me that she was the only manager on duty, which was a lie because multiple other people said there was three other managers on duty at the time. Not only was Elizabeth very rude and very dismissive about the whole situation. Elizabeth took side of her life guard and shed no light to the situation only making it worse. This behavior is not only unprofessional but also incredibly harmful to a child’s emotional well-being. Pools should be safe and welcoming environments for all families, and it’s disheartening to see such a lack of care and compassion. I urge management to address this issue immediately and ensure that all staff are trained in child safety and proper behavior. Children deserve to feel safe and supported, especially in recreational spaces. I hope that steps will be taken to prevent this from happening to another child in the future.
