About

The Tank is the iconic multi-level pool complex at the Golden Nugget hotel in downtown Las Vegas, known for its unique 200,000-gallon shark aquarium. A thrilling three-story waterslide plunges riders directly through the shark tank, offering an exhilarating experience. The complex also features a main swimming pool, waterfalls, private cabanas, and a poolside bar, making it a popular and adventurous aquatic attraction.

The pools at The Tank, including the main swimming pool, are heated to ensure a comfortable swimming environment for guests. While specific daily temperatures are not publicly listed, they are maintained at an enjoyable temperature for year-round use.

What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for the Golden Nugget's pool area highlight it as a fun and memorable experience, with many praising the aquarium's close encounters with sharks and fish, the cool water slide, and the perfect water temperature. Cabanas are generally seen as a worthwhile rental, offering amenities and friendly service. However, several significant issues were noted: inconsistent staff customer service, with some being rude or unaccommodating, especially towards locals or non-hotel guests. Guests experienced problems with reservations, such as gazebos being given away for free later, unexpected room charges at checkout, and dissatisfaction with room quality for the price. Restroom cleanliness and maintenance were frequently criticized, citing issues like hot shower water, broken sinks, and empty soap dispensers. There were also complaints about the lack of enforcement of hot tub age policies, with underage children and infants often present. Despite these drawbacks, many reviewers indicated they would still recommend the pool and consider returning, largely due to the enjoyable aquatic experience.

The place itself was fun. I’m local to the area and we did a staycation type of deal. On the way to the pool there were people trying to give out free tickets to shows. Once they found out we were locals they were rude and short. Once we got to the pool I didn’t realize we had to check in by noon or we would risk losing the gazebo and it would be up for resale. I spent over $100 on that little section and the lady at the front was very nice and accommodating. It was pointless to actually reserve that section because they started giving the areas away free to everyone else two hours before they closed so there was really no reason to purchase the section. The aquarium was very nice! The water slide was cool too. Staff was friendly for the most part. The only weird thing about golden nugget is they didn’t charge me upfront for the two nights I was there. I was under the impression they did so I was hit with an unexpected $120 payment after I already dropped hundreds in this place. You would think $100+ a night would come with a nicer room but it’s very circus circus, $17 a night rate vs the let down we got. It was just weird and I will likely never stay here again but will be visiting the pool. Anyways, here’s some photos.

Security lady upon entrance is very nice and sociable. But unfortunately, staff who signs you in were lacking good customer service skills. No smiles or anything, some even wants to kick us out because apparently they said: “non-hotel guests can only sit on the beach chairs starting at 10am (we arrived 20 min. earlier). A lot of people were already swimming and sitting on beach chairs and they want to kick us out even if we paid a lot for the pool reservation? This is the only reason why I slashed 1 star. The tank is indeed one of the best pools in Vegas because of our close encounters with sharks, stingray and other huge fish who were at a The pool jumbo tank. Water temperature was perfect for the Vegas summer heat so it was really worth it because we enjoyed the water, the fake waterfall, seeing kids happily use the slides and just sitting on our chairs relaxing. . For non-hotel guests, we were able to change clothes in the bathroom by the pool. It was not well maintained and clean. There’s only 1 shower area in the restroom and the water from the shower was super hot. So I was not able to rinse and was grossed out! Again, this is supposed to be some of the staff’s responsibility. They should’ve coordinated with the hotel’s maintenance workers to fix the Restroom problems including 1 sink that was not working and staff should refill empty soap dispensers. Good thing we enjoyed the fish and the pool’s great ambience anyways plus the cool water temperature. That’s why, somehow we’ve forgotten some of cons of paying high reservation as well as the parking of $25! Overall we will still recommend it to friends and family and who knows! We might still come back again.

I would have left a 5 star review but nobody policed the hot tub policy better I would have no qualms with 5 star. We booked a cabana on the 2nd floor with family. Hot tu. Is q6byears and older Everyone and their baby was in there. No swim diaper. No regard for rules or spaces met for more mature persons.... Say persons who dont jump into the hot tub. Splashing patrons in the small space And before anyone come at me...I was there at the space with.my 12 year olds and I told them no. Rules are in place for a reason. They swam and did the slide and respected the space and rules

We rented a cabana in the 21+ area, 3rd floor. Lots of sunshine and seating. Our cabana had a tv, towels, and a refrigerator. The pool is a nice small pool. The staff was friendly. The pool area was kept clean. A big shout out to our attendant, Alex. She was friendly and was checking up on us and others. I had so much fun, I forgot to take pictures of our cabana and pool area. It was definitely worth renting a cabana.
