Gym, recreation and community center with a basketball court, a swimming pool and kids activities.
The indoor swimming pool(s) at the Caldwell Community Center are generally maintained at a comfortable temperature, typically ranging from 80-84°F (approximately 27-29°C). This range is commonly selected to accommodate various aquatic activities, including recreational swimming, swim lessons, and general exercise, ensuring comfort for both children and adults.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? This community center receives mixed reviews, highlighting both strong positive aspects and significant areas for improvement. Positives frequently mentioned include good pools (though some note overcrowding during summer camps), a good basketball gym, and a variety of well-regarded programs for both children (e.g., swim lessons, karate, camp days) and adults. Some members appreciate the 'family feeling' and the value, while others find the membership not cheap. Specific classes, such as spin, are also highly praised. However, several key negatives are consistently raised. A major complaint is the poor HVAC system, particularly in the locker rooms, which are reported to be significantly hotter and more humid than other parts of the facility. Many users also point out that the workout equipment is dated or run-down, with non-functional TVs. Cleanliness is another area noted for improvement. A severe negative experience involved a sports program director who was reportedly irate, rude, and aggressive towards players and onlookers, escalating a minor situation to police involvement and causing a member to vow never to return due to the staff member's unprofessionalism.

I have been a member for about two years. Very nice pool, as long as you are not trying to do laps during summer camp with a million kids screaming! Clean place, equipment is in good shape, and rarely do I see a piece of cardio equipment out of order. Biggest grievance is something i've complained to the staff and management to at least six times... Their HVAC is just terrible. It is easily 10 degrees hotter at all times in the locker room then the rest of the building. It is a cool, comfortable 75 in the weight room and hallways and common areas, whereas the locker room will be 85+ and humid... I just do not understand how they cannot fix the ventilation in there... I am looking for other gyms for this reason alone...
We love the community center. While it is not cheap to be a member, they have great kids programs like swim lessons, karate, and basketball. They also have camp days during the school year so that parents who do not have babysitting choices for those days have a place where the kids can be watched and have fun. There are a lot of adult-only health and fitness programs too.
Love the one-on--one family feeling. Dated machines with tv's that don't always work or work right. Great classes especially spin. Gym could be cleaner.
Unfortunately, I had a horrible experience at this community center. The sports program/membership director Gordon V. Lawshe became very irate and rude during a basketball game. He proceeded to swear and scream at players and on lookers because he was upset about a basketball player walking on the court when he was not supposed to. He resorted to swearing and screaming in order to get his point across. He escalated a small situation and the police where called. HIS BEHAVIOR WAS CAPTURED ON VIDEO. I will never return to this establishment and they should be embarrassed to have him working at the community center. Through his actions he has shown that he lacks good character, respect, professionalism and caring for others.
Great price for membership. Good pool and basketball gym. Workout equipment and exercise room run down and in need of an upgrade
