What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for the Pershing Field Pool indicate a mixed but predominantly negative experience, largely due to operational inconsistencies and customer service issues. Several patrons reported frequent and unannounced closures, with the pool's online status often inaccurately showing 'open' when it was not, even on hot days or for minor weather like light rain despite being an indoor facility. Guests also expressed frustration over delayed openings and the lack of signage to inform visitors of closures upon arrival. A significant concern raised was rude and unprofessional staff behavior, including one particularly upsetting incident where a staff member was perceived as disrespectful, yelling, threatening, and potentially discriminatory towards a patron regarding line management. Overcrowding with no apparent capacity limits was another major complaint, making the pool feel unsafe and uncomfortable. While some acknowledge it as a good city indoor pool and found most staff friendly, these positives are overshadowed by the recurring issues regarding inaccurate information, poor communication, and negative staff interactions.

I had an upsetting experience with a staff member that left me feeling singled out and uncomfortable. I was originally standing in line behind two kids outside the door. When we were called in, three more kids joined behind me. I explained to the staff member that I was alone and that the kids behind me were part of one group, so I stepped aside to wait behind them. Despite this, the staff member—whom I had never seen before—insisted that I move further down the stairs in a way that felt unnecessary and disrespectful. She yelled at me and threatened me that she wouldn’t let me in unless I complied, even though I had already stepped aside. The interaction felt unfair and left me feeling targeted. It felt humiliating, and the way she treated me made me feel targeted—especially as I was alone and Asian. I’ve never experienced anything like that in a public space. Eventually another staff checked my bag and let me in. Having said that, I generally had a good experience at the pool, and most of the staff members I encountered were friendly and polite. But this experience made me feel uncomfortable and discriminated. I believe everyone should be treated with respect, regardless of their background or whether they come alone or in a group.
I recently visited the Pershing Field Pool in Jersey City, and unfortunately, my experience was quite disappointing. Despite the pool's scheduled opening time of 3:30 PM, we were left standing in line until 3:45 PM. The receptionist was extremely rude and unprofessional, which only added to our frustration. Furthermore, the pool was overcrowded with no apparent limitations on the number of people allowed in at once. This made it difficult to enjoy our time there safely and comfortably. Overall, I would rate my experience a 0 out of 5. I hope the management addresses these issues promptly to improve the experience for future visitors.
They NEED to update it every time it ALWAYS appears as OPEN but when I go they mostly always just say we’re closed just like a few minutes ago I went and the weather was perfect with a little rain after a few minutes but they said they were closed JUST because of rain ITS INDOOR and last time it was raining 100% and it was still open
A great city indoor pool. It used to be free but now there is a fee for 18+. It isn’t much but now the pool is open to non-residents as well. Does it fill to capacity with no restrictions 🤷😳 ?
It's closed today one of the hottest days in May I drove one hr to take my son to the pool horrible there should be a sign at the door stating that the pool is closed instead of making people get out of their car and walk up. Horrible experience
