What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for this spa are mixed, often contrasting very negative experiences with positive ones. Several patrons expressed strong disappointment due to unexpected additional charges for basic amenities like hot tubs, pools, and towels, which significantly increased the final cost. Common criticisms include frequent facility outages (e.g., hot tub, main sauna), dirty and poorly maintained locker rooms and bathrooms, confusing layouts, and unprofessional or unhelpful staff. Some also found the food limited or unappetizing, and private areas noisy. In contrast, other reviewers praised the spa's authentic rooms, excellent value for money compared to city alternatives, and good staff presence. They highlighted positive experiences with the variety of sauna rooms, jacuzzi, swimming pool, and specific food items like the spicy lamb soup, recommending it as a worthwhile 'treat yourself' destination when fully operational.

Very Disappointing Experience. Not Worth the Hype Attention fellow customers: don’t be fooled by this place’s web site. This place was a major letdown. We booked a couples massage for $350, expecting a luxurious and relaxing experience. Instead, we were hit with extra charges for basic amenities: an additional $50 for access to the hot tub, pool, and sauna, and even more fees for using a towel and robe. The red flags started right away they took our ID and credit card and locked them in a metal locked box “to ensure we didn’t leave without paying.” It felt more like checking into a detention center than a spa. Navigating the place was confusing. The signage led me to what looked like a dark, back-alley basement with brick walls and unmarked doors. Eventually, a staff member redirected me through another door that had no clear sign. The locker rooms were unsettling, lockers had chains and holes on the doors, and the bathroom and shower areas were dirty and run-down. Honestly, it felt more like a gas station restroom than a wellness spa. I truly don’t understand how this place has 5 stars. It was absolutely not the upscale experience we paid for. Save your money and go elsewhere.
I had a really disappointing experience at Spa88. The hot tub was completely out of service, which was one of the main reasons I booked in the first place. When I brought it up, the staff seemed passive-aggressive and not particularly helpful—they didn't seem to understand or offer any meaningful alternatives. The food options were very limited and what was available was overly salted and unappetizing. Definitely not the kind of nourishment you'd expect from a wellness-focused place. The private room was surprisingly loud, which made it difficult to relax, and many of the included amenities felt either unusable or poorly maintained. The space overall felt cramped and not nearly as serene or rejuvenating as advertised. Sadly, I won’t be returning or recommending Spa88 to others. For the price and expectations, the experience fell way short.
Great rooms. They feel authentic without being dirty (excepting the IR room, which seems useless and smells bad). There are enough staff around that things are taken care of but not so many that you feel over monitored. The food is great and decently priced (the spicy lamb soup is particularly good). The price is among the best in the city (unexpected given its location but I've done extensive research here). Great whether solo, in a couple, or with a group. I took a group of about ten and we stayed all day.
Booked a birthday visit only to show up and be told the main sauna was out of order. No heads-up, no apology — just a $50 “discount” like that made it okay. Zero professionalism. If you’re thinking of going, call ahead — and even then, don’t expect much. Major disappointment.
I spent 5 hours going in and out from one kind of sauna room to the other today all the way till closing time 10pm. Missed the last call at the restaurant, the kitchen closes 8:45pm so now I know. Though I did treat myself with an oak broom masseuse session they call it something like Shwitz, I don’t know why. That was the “next level” which is one before “extreme”. Then there’s a jacuzzi and a swimming pool upstairs, resting area, I did all that and before you know it it’s time to pay and leave. There is also a temporary discount for the general admission going on now for a reason that doesn’t really affect your experience much, so hurry, we all like to save money! And don’t hesitate dipping in that ice cold water after you come out from the heat rooms, don’t skip the essential part of the baña!! Treat yourself
