What are people saying (AI review summary)? Reviews for Long Island Swim School are generally positive, with many parents praising the clean and spacious facilities, friendly and knowledgeable instructors, and well-managed class sizes. Many children reportedly gain confidence, enjoy their lessons, and look forward to attending, with some parents appreciating the accommodating policies and reasonable pricing. However, one detailed negative review from a parent of an experienced competitive swimmer specifically criticized the stroke clinic program. This review highlighted concerns about inexperienced teenage coaches, a lack of active instruction or personalized feedback in larger classes, the absence of provided equipment, and disrespectful staff interactions. This suggests a varied experience depending on the specific program or the swimmer's skill level, with the general learn-to-swim offerings being highly regarded, but advanced clinics potentially falling short for experienced athletes.

Great facility to bring your children to learn to swim. Clean and spacious. Class sizes are well managed. We have been coming here for over 3 years and both our kids are enrolled. They didn't want to learn to swim at first but the instructors and supervisor are so friendly they are looking forward to their classes.
Let me start by giving some background, my son has been swimming since he was 2, he is now 13. He belongs to two other separate competitive swim teams. He has been on one of the teams since he was 8 years old and won many ribbons and awards. He is about to join his high school swim team 2 years early. He has been with a local stroke clinic for almost 2 years, and the instructor of the class is amazing. she gets in the pool with them when needed. watches all the attendees ranging from 4- 8 kids. she interacts with all and provides feedback to each child throughout. They however close for the summer early and we wanted something to tide him over with until the summer competitive team starts in July. Enter us signing him up at LISS in Syosset. We signed him up for the stroke clinic, however at 8/9 classes in and we are not sure why we ever did apart from a "workout". To start the "coaches" were 90% teenagers (likely on the swim team) which i'm not a fan of this is a tactic to save money by Mc Dojos, but i gave them the benefit of the doubt. However by week 8 i can firmly attest that at least the one "Coach" in my sons class spends 80% of his time in a chair watching and providing instructions on the next stroke but little else. There is zero feedback to the kids, not just mine but all of them in the 16 person class. "Swim this" and off they go! if i wanted him to just do laps without helping him improve id take him to Eisenhower myself. Then there is also a lack of provided equipment. Swim boards in the very least should be provided, but no they expect you to buy one of theirs? which i find so bizarre. My kid did get the flippers which he already had but by class 8 they were too tight and he asked to borrow some, the coach basically said no, and he got out of the pool visibly upset. We spoke to the head coach there who finally after back and forth directed the younger coach to lend a pair, which the younger coach did begrudgingly by tossing them at him. absolutely disgraceful. I had heard a rumor that these clinics that they provided were just money grabs for the main team, and now i see why. As a swim competitive swim parent I can wholeheartedly not recommend this school. It seems more of a drop off than a teaching class (which a swim clinic should be) Its night and day compared to his normal swim clinic. What was amusing was the senior coach had the audacity to ask if he was coming back in the summer/fall. If there was lower than 1 star id use it
Long Island Swim School has really helped our children gain confidence in their swimming abilities. Their staff is incredibly knowledgeable and kind. Our kids love their instructors and they bring lots of fun to the sessions on top of the skills they are instilling. Their class sizes are small which allows for more time and focus in the pool.
We had enrolled our daughter at Long Island swim school (Syosset) a year back and she absolutely loves it and looks forward to her class each week. My younger son got excited watching his sister swim and we joined him this spring session as well. The swimming pool and surrounding areas as maintained cleanly and we love watching our kids learn swimming through a transparent glass wall as well.
Very nice folks. Clean and reasonably priced. My son broke his elbow and they were very accommodating regarding granting him credit for the lessons. I really appreciate that. At age 5 and doing it less than a year, he has definitely gone from scared to looking forward to being in the water. Very happy and looking forward to going for the foreseeable future with him.
