I stayed at the Armon Hotel for one night. I'm not sure if the location is good or not, but the lobby is beautiful very big and impressive. If you're someone who enjoys grand lobbies, this one definitely stands out. Customer service was good, and the food was delicious. The hotel has a cool and different vibe. However, the room itself wasn't great. There was no air conditioning, and it was extremely hot, which made it hard to sleep. I'd rate the hotel around a 3 or 4 out of 10. Even though the lobby and a few other features are cool, they don't make the hotel feel truly special. If you're just staying for one night, it might be okay. But for a few days, I'm not sure this would be the right place.
My husband and I stayed overnight on a Tuesday in the midst of a vacation road trip. We would not recommend this hotel to anyone. There must have been only a skeleton crew on staff because we never saw anyone working besides the person at the front desk. There was nobody to greet us, nobody to help with luggage, nobody to direct us to the right place to check in- just nobody. The person that gave us our room key put it on the counter and walked away. Our room had a three digit number but when we got off the elevator all the signs showed room numbers with four digits. Since there was no one around we had to go back down to the lobby to figure out how to locate our room. The room was old. Everything about the room was old, used and dated including the odor of sweat and cigarettes. The bathroom had a cracked sink and tub. Best to just avoid this hotel altogether. There’s a Hampton Inn 10 mins away that looked better- it’s where we had to go eat because the hotel’s restaurant was closed.
We had a comfortable weekday night at the hotel which was almost empty. The rate was better than all comparable Stamford hotels, although it is a few minutes drive to downtown. Plenty of good coffee shops and other restaurants nearby. Desk staff was efficient and friendly. Parking was easy and at $10 a night, a better deal than hotels closer to I95. I could easily stay there again if I need to be in Stamford. 15 minutes to the beach.
I was charged twice for my hotel room. I called to dispute this charge and the lady at the front desk was extremely rude, cut me off while trying to explain the issue and thought I was asking for another room tonight to which I was not. I was simply asking for a full refund as my debit card is now out 195.00 for 4 business days. For the aggravation I asked I be refunded not given another room but she wasn’t listening at all. Also during my stay, a man who worked there walked right into my room. I said I’m sorry someone is in here and he quickly left. Not a good feeling either. I feel I should be given a full remind for this hassle and not blown off. Yes I’ll get the extra charge back eventually. But I need that money now and it’s their error!!! She did not care and nor would she listen. Extremely rude service. I would not recommend this place at all.
A few small annoyances, which added up to the hotel is ok. The room keys didn't work, which was annoying,. I had to walk back down and get a physical key. When I got back to my room I then couldn't connect to the WIFI. I assume the access key was in the booklet with they keys that I returned when they didn't work. I tried calling to the front desk, but the phone was just busy. After 20 minutes I finally walked down and no one was on the phones.
