West Bathhouse is a historic facility located within Jones Beach State Park in Wantagh, NY. It serves as a key amenity for beachgoers, offering changing rooms, restrooms, and showers, along with convenient access to the ocean beach. It's an integral part of the iconic architecture and services provided at Jones Beach.
The West Bathhouse area is associated with the West Games Area Pool, an Olympic-sized freshwater pool that operates seasonally (typically Memorial Day to Labor Day). Specific, consistently published temperature data for this outdoor pool is generally not available; its temperature is primarily influenced by ambient weather, making it refreshing for summer swimming.
What are people saying (AI review summary)? The pool generally receives positive feedback, described as good, nice, and beautiful, with some considering it a great family destination. It features two separate pools (a baby pool and a deeper one 3-8 ft with a diving board), along with amenities like a food area, lockers, and showers. While it can be crowded, especially in summer, some visitors found it surprisingly comfortable and spacious even when packed. Key details include an admission fee of $5 for adults, $3 for children (ages 3-12 or 6-12), and free for children under 3 or 6. Seniors pay $3 on weekdays and $5 on weekends. Lockers and valuable storage are available for an additional $2. However, there are some notable criticisms: the staff could be more polite, and there are restrictions against outside food/drinks and children's floating devices. A significant concern raised is inconsistent management and communication, with instances of the pool closing unexpectedly early and conflicting operating hours listed online versus on-site signage, leading to disappointment for planned visits.

The pool is good. The staff could have been more polite, but overall they’re doing their job well. No food or drinks permitted, no floating devices for kids allowed. A bit overcrowded, however it’s summertime and we didn’t expect no people are in there. Admission fee is $5 for adults, $3 for children 6-12, for children up to 6 it’s free, for seniors $3 (Mon-Fri only, $5 on weekends). For additional $2 fee you can have a locker, and also you can secure your valuables for the same price. Enjoy your swimming and bathing!
100/100!!! Entrance fee. Location has 2 different pools, one for babies and one separated that is 3 feet and up to 7-8 feet I believe. Diving board. Food area. Lockers and showers. Crowded but comfortable, I went on a Sunday and it was spacious although it looked packed. I found my new favorite pool!!
Today Saturday Jul 12th 2025 the pool will.open by 1230pm. They are charging this year. Its 5 bucks per adult and 3 per children 3yo to 12yo.
The pool is nice. But today it was so sad that by the time we got there, the pool was closed. It was at 4.20 pm. It says it should be open until 6 pm. We planned to swim here from a week before. Besides, in the area, there is a sign saying it is open on saturday and sunday, but in google, it says it is closed on those days. The pool is good but the management could be much much better than now. Probably if it had not been free, it could have been open based on the time.
Beautiful place to relax and have fun with the family
